About the role

Heirloom is seeking a dedicated DoD SkillBridge Intern to join our innovative team in Charleston, South Carolina. This internship provides a unique opportunity for military service members transitioning to civilian careers to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic work environment. What you'll do

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support ongoing projects and initiatives within the company.
Assist in the development and implementation of innovative solutions that enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Participate in regular team meetings to discuss project updates, challenges, and strategies for improvement.
Conduct research and analysis to inform decision-making processes and identify best practices in the industry.
Support the creation of documentation, including reports, presentations, and user manuals, to facilitate knowledge sharing within the organization.
Engage in hands-on training sessions to develop technical skills relevant to your role and the company's objectives.
Contribute to the design and execution of experiments or pilot programs aimed at testing new ideas or technologies.
Provide feedback and insights on current processes and suggest improvements based on your observations and experiences.
Network with other interns and professionals in the industry to build relationships and expand your professional network.
Attend workshops and seminars that focus on career development, leadership, and industry trends.
Shadow experienced team members to gain a deeper understanding of various roles within the organization and the tech sector.
Complete a capstone project that showcases your learning and contributions during the internship.

Requirements

Currently serving in the military or a recent veteran eligible for the DoD SkillBridge program.
Strong interest in technology, innovation, and problem-solving.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate ideas clearly.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated and proactive.
Basic understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
Familiarity with data analysis tools and techniques is a plus.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or similar software.
Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
A positive attitude and a commitment to personal and professional growth.

Nice to have

Previous internship or work experience in a technology-related field.
Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript.
Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or Power BI.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA or Trello.
Understanding of user experience (UX) design principles.
Interest in sustainability and environmental technology initiatives.

Skills & tools

The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical and interpersonal skills.
