Field Marketing Manager
Job description
About the role
You own the end-to-end field marketing execution for Harper's highest-potential verticals, translating raw market signals into scalable demand and revenue motions. You are embedded with sales, product, and engineering, working directly in the trenches with customers in construction, med spas, and manufacturing to pressure-test and refine our go-to-market strategy. You create demand from the ground up, not from a deck, by turning human insight from the field into automated workflows and repeatable playbooks. You own outcomes, not outputs, and your success is measured by the pipeline and revenue you generate on the ground. You thrive in motion, learning faster than competitors by doing, and you are comfortable making decisions with incomplete information while moving at high speed. Winning in the first six to twelve months means you have built vertical-specific GTM motions that are repeatable, documented, and owned by Harper's engine for long-term scale.
Key facts
What you'll do
Own vertical GTM execution by launching and scaling field marketing across construction, med spas, manufacturing, and new verticals; learn buyer behavior, decision cycles, and objections in each; and build repeatable vertical-specific playbooks.
Be in the market consistently by meeting customers on-site, attending industry events, hosting roundtables, and building partnerships - identifying the conferences, associations, and offline channels worth investing in as a direct extension of Harper's brand.
Close the GTM feedback loop by translating field insight into sharper messaging, optimized landing pages, and focused demand-gen strategy, then work with sales and engineering to turn what works into automation and tooling that can be systematized across the organization.
Experiment and iterate fast by running short-cycle tests through events, partnerships, outbound plays, and localized campaigns; measure outcomes rigorously, double down on what converts, and kill underperforming tactics quickly to maximize learning speed and impact.
Operate as a systems thinker, connecting insight to playbook to automation to scale, ensuring every field discovery becomes a repeatable process that sales and product teams can execute without constant rework.
Represent Harper in the market as the primary field voice for core verticals, capturing qualitative and quantitative customer signals and feeding them directly into product positioning, roadmap input, and sales enablement.
Build and steward a network of field partners, including associations, agencies, and community groups, that can amplify Harper's reach and credibility in target industries without relying solely on paid channels.
Own the end-to-end pipeline and revenue responsibility for your verticals, diagnosing leaks in the funnel, adjusting targeting and messaging in real time, and collaborating with sales to improve handoff quality and conversion.
Champion a culture of speed and rigor by aligning tightly with sales and engineering to turn field successes into standardized motions, playbooks, and dashboards that scale efficiently across teams.
Act as Harper's boots on the ground, identifying emerging needs, competitive moves, and regulatory shifts in key industries and ensuring the company responds quickly with relevant offers and messaging.
Requirements
You have 5+ years in field marketing, growth, demand generation, sales, or a closely related GTM role, with a track record of launching or scaling new markets, verticals, or regions, ideally in B2B, SMB, or services-heavy industries.
You have created field-driven demand through events, partnerships, local campaigns, community-building, and direct customer engagement, and you have owned outcomes tied to pipeline and revenue, not just leads or activity metrics.
You can translate qualitative customer insight into clear GTM playbooks and scalable processes, and you communicate crisply what you are seeing in the market and what should be done next.
You thrive in fast, noisy, high-velocity environments where priorities change quickly and execution beats polish, and you are comfortable making progress even when plans are incomplete.
You are willing to be on-site in San Francisco and engage in the market regularly, including evenings and some weekends when it aligns with critical field initiatives.
You are comfortable owning outcomes end-to-end, which means when a motion is not producing, you find and fix the problem, whether the solution lies in targeting, messaging, channel choice, or sales handoff.
You are intrinsically motivated by building something from early innings and are comfortable with ambiguity, knowing that roles in high-growth startups require shifting scope and rapid iteration.
You are legally authorized to work in the United States and do not require work authorization sponsorship for this role at this time.
Nice to have
Experience in insurance, financial services, or regulated industries is preferred, as is familiarity with commercial lines such as property, casualty, and specialty risk products.
Hands-on experience with no-code or low-code automation tools, CRM systems, and data instrumentation is a strong advantage for closing the feedback loop between field insight and systematized execution.
Background in sales operations, business development, or customer success in B2B environments where you owned pipeline and revenue outcomes.
Practical notes
This is a field-based role with on-site expectations in San Francisco and regular market presence, including evenings and some weekends around key events.
The engagement is full time, and the role is not eligible for remote or hybrid arrangements at this time.
Compensation includes a base salary range of $135,000-$150,000, performance-based bonus, and equity, with final numbers depending on experience and location.
New start dates are aligned with business needs in a high-growth environment; early start and consistent availability are expected.
Travel is not required but participation in key industry events and customer visits in the San Francisco Bay Area and potentially nearby regions is part of the role.
Visa sponsorship is not available for this position at this time.
The role reports to the Head of GTM and works cross-functionally with sales, product, and engineering leadership.
Success in this role requires a long-term commitment to building repeatable field marketing motions that compound in value over time.
