What you'll do
- Lead the design, implementation, and management of security protocols and policies to safeguard the organization's IT systems and data.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify potential security weaknesses and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security best practices into all aspects of IT operations and project management.
- Develop and maintain incident response plans, ensuring that the organization is prepared to respond effectively to security breaches or incidents.
- Monitor security alerts and logs, responding promptly to any anomalies or threats that may arise.
- Provide expert guidance and support to IT staff and other departments on security-related issues, fostering a culture of security awareness throughout the organization.
- Stay abreast of the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies, ensuring that Hamilton's security measures remain current and effective.
- Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers to ensure compliance with security standards and best practices.
- Prepare and present reports on security metrics and incidents to senior management, providing insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Oversee the implementation of security training programs for employees, promoting best practices in data protection and cybersecurity hygiene.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, or PCI-DSS, as applicable to the organization.
- Participate in audits and assessments, working closely with internal and external auditors to ensure adherence to security policies and procedures.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in IT security, systems administration, or a related field, with a proven track record of managing security initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of security frameworks and standards, such as ISO 27001, NIST, or CIS Controls.
- Proficiency in security tools and technologies, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and endpoint protection solutions.
- Experience with cloud security and the ability to secure cloud-based environments, such as AWS or Azure.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH are highly desirable.
- Familiarity with network protocols and architectures, as well as experience with vulnerability assessment tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating leadership qualities and a proactive approach to security challenges.
Nice to have
- Experience in the insurance or financial services industry, providing insight into sector-specific security challenges.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements specific to Bermuda or international standards.
- Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and integrating security into the software development lifecycle.
- Experience with incident response and forensic analysis in the event of a security breach.
- Understanding of data privacy laws and their implications for organizational security practices.
