As a , you will play a pivotal role in the development and optimization of composite materials used in our Formula 1 vehicles. This position demands a deep understanding of composite engineering principles, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions. You will be responsible for ensuring that our designs meet the rigorous performance and safety standards required in the high-stakes environment of motorsport.

What you'll do
- Lead the design and development of composite components for various parts of the Formula 1 car, ensuring they meet performance, weight, and safety specifications.
- Collaborate with aerodynamicists and structural engineers to integrate composite materials into vehicle designs effectively.
- Conduct detailed analysis and simulations to validate the performance of composite structures under various conditions.
- Oversee the manufacturing process of composite parts, ensuring adherence to design specifications and quality standards.
- Develop and implement testing protocols for composite materials to assess their durability and performance in real-world scenarios.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and interns in composite design and manufacturing techniques.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in composite materials and manufacturing technologies to continuously improve design processes.
- Contribute to the documentation of design processes, material specifications, and testing results to support regulatory compliance and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Work closely with suppliers to source high-quality composite materials and ensure timely delivery for production schedules.
- Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to enhance the overall design quality and performance of the vehicle.
- Collaborate with the race team to troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to composite components during race weekends.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing the design and manufacturing processes of composite parts.
Requirements
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field, with a strong focus on composite materials.
- At least 5 years of experience in composite design and engineering, preferably within the motorsport or aerospace industries.
- Proficiency in CAD software (such as CATIA, SolidWorks, or similar) for creating detailed 3D models and technical drawings.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and computational simulations related to composite materials.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes for composites, including layup techniques, curing processes, and quality control measures.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing engineering challenges.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- A passion for motorsport and a keen interest in the technological advancements in Formula 1.
Nice to have
- Experience with advanced composite materials such as carbon fiber, aramid, or thermoplastic composites.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and safety standards specific to motorsport engineering.
