Greenlight invites you to join the Web Core team, where you will play a central role in the evolution of our family fintech platform's web presence. In this capacity, you will own the development and refinement of core product features, translating complex mobile interactions into robust and high-quality web experiences. The position provides significant scope for technical guidance, allowing you to mentor colleagues and establish elevated engineering standards across the organization. You will shape the technical direction of the web platform, defining its roadmap and setting definitive benchmarks for quality and performance. A key focus will be addressing persistent technical debt, driving initiatives that promote code excellence and foster long-term architectural advancement. Furthermore, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining the backend services that power our web products, ensuring they remain scalable, reliable, and performant under demanding conditions. What you'll do
- Architect and implement intricate web interfaces, deconstructing mobile-native features and reconstructing them as fluid, responsive web applications that deliver an exceptional user experience.
- Assume ownership of the web platform's technical strategy, establishing best practices, defining architecture, and guiding the long-term vision for frontend and backend development.
- Lead initiatives to identify, analyze, and systematically resolve technical debt, enforcing rigorous code quality standards and championing sustainable architectural evolution.
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services and REST APIs using Node.js and TypeScript, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and capable of supporting our web products at scale.
- Set and enforce engineering benchmarks across the Web Core team, providing clear technical guidance to junior engineers and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Partner closely with product and design to translate complex requirements into elegant technical solutions, balancing user needs with system constraints and long-term maintainability.
- Spearhead the implementation and optimization of modern development workflows, leveraging contemporary build tools, testing methodologies, and robust continuous integration and delivery pipelines to accelerate release cycles.
- Act as a technical leader in the design and management of our infrastructure on Kubernetes (EKS), collaborating with platform teams to ensure optimal deployment, monitoring, and operation of web services.
- Drive the adoption of advanced frontend testing strategies, utilizing tools like Cypress and React Testing Library to establish a comprehensive safety net that ensures product stability and confidence in refactoring.
- Contribute to the data-driven optimization of the user journey, collaborating with analytics teams to instrument key interactions and leverage insights from A/B testing to inform product decisions.
Requirements
- You hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a comparable field, demonstrating a foundational understanding of core computer science principles.
- You bring a minimum of 7 years of hands-on software development experience, with a proven track record of technical leadership in previous roles.
- You possess advanced proficiency in React, Next.js, and Remix, with a deep understanding of their ecosystems and the nuances of client-side routing and server-side rendering.
- You have solid, real-world experience architecting and developing REST APIs and backend services using Node.js and TypeScript, writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- You are intimately familiar with contemporary build tools, testing methodologies, and the end-to-end processes of continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
- You hold a strong grasp of core web technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, allowing you to build accessible and performant user interfaces from the ground up.
- You have a history of mentoring junior developers, providing constructive feedback and guidance that helps them grow their skills and confidence.
- You are comfortable making technical decisions in ambiguous situations, weighing trade-offs between speed, quality, and long-term operational overhead with clarity and conviction.

- Experience with A/B testing and experimentation platforms, as well as MarTech tools like Segment, Optimizely, Mixpanel, or Amplitude.
Practical notes
- Base salary range for NY, CA, WA: $142,000 - $210,000.
- Base salary range for CO: $142,000 - $177,000.
- Total compensation includes performance bonus and equity.
