About the role
This is an individual contributor role focused on developing financial solutions within Grab's payment ecosystem. You will guide mobile development efforts and foster collaboration across teams. The position reports to the Senior Engineering Manager. You will partner closely with the Payment Acquiring Team to architect and implement mobile features that drive revenue and enhance user trust. You will act as a technical leader in mobile strategy, ensuring that solutions align with business objectives and engineering excellence. You will mentor junior engineers while maintaining a high level of personal contribution to the codebase. You will translate ambiguous requirements into robust technical designs for mobile platforms. You will champion quality and reliability by instilling best practices throughout the development lifecycle.

What you'll do
- Investigate and dissect complex business problems to define mobile feature specifications that meet financial compliance standards.
- Architect scalable and maintainable mobile solutions using Flutter to ensure consistency across iOS and Android platforms.
- Optimize application performance and eliminate critical bottlenecks to deliver a seamless user experience under high transaction loads.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and integrate relevant tools such as AI assistants to boost team productivity and code quality.
- Orchestrate the full software development lifecycle, coordinating with design, product, and backend teams from discovery through launch.
- Translate strategic product goals into technical tasks and prioritize work based on impact, risk, and effort.
- Conduct in-depth code reviews to uphold coding standards and share knowledge across the mobile engineering organization.
- Collaborate with data and analytics teams to instrument key events and validate the success of new financial features.
- Mentor team members through pair programming and constructive feedback to elevate the overall skill level of the group.
- Serve as the technical authority for mobile within the Payment Acquiring domain, influencing long-term platform decisions.
- Troubleshoot production incidents and lead root cause analysis to prevent future disruptions to payment flows.
- Explore and prototype new interaction models to simplify complex financial workflows for end users.
- Document technical decisions and architectural tradeoffs to ensure continuity and clarity for future maintenance.
- Advocate for accessibility and internationalization to support Grab's diverse user base across Southeast Asia.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline as proof of foundational knowledge.
- Bring over 7 years of professional experience developing iOS applications with a strong portfolio of shipped features.
- Demonstrate mastery of mobile development with Swift for native iOS code and Dart for cross-platform Flutter implementations.
- Show practical experience with the application lifecycle, including distribution, versioning, and app store governance.
- Exhibit fluency in Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery pipelines specific to mobile app deployment.
- Prove the ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deliver end-to-end projects while collaborating with diverse teams.
- Balance hands-on coding with leadership duties, mentoring peers, and still driving execution on critical milestones.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders across product, design, operations, and compliance to align on objectives.
- Thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments by maintaining high standards of quality and delivering reliable results on schedule.
- Understand the constraints and opportunities of financial services technology, particularly in payment processing and security.
- Navigate regulatory considerations and work closely with legal and risk teams to ensure mobile features meet local laws.
- Demonstrate resilience and adaptability when working under tight deadlines and evolving business requirements.

- Background in back-end development to effectively collaborate with API and service-oriented architectures.

Practical notes
This role is based in Singapore and requires relocation or local authorization to work in the country. The engagement is full-time during standard business hours with expectations for occasional asynchronous collaboration. Travel may be required within the region for workshops or stakeholder meetings.
