Data Analyst
Job description
About the role
Join the Integrity team to protect users and transactions across the Grab platform. You will work onsite in Malaysia to analyze threat patterns and build systems that prevent fraud and safety risks. In this capacity, you will serve as a quantitative problem solver who turns complex behavioral signals into clear operational guidance. The role requires you to own the full lifecycle of analytical work, from initial question framing through to production grade monitoring. You will translate ambiguous business risk into measurable indicators that drive automated and manual interventions. You will partner closely with security and operations colleagues to ensure that insights lead to timely action. The position demands comfort with fast moving priorities and a mindset focused on reducing harm at scale.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Provide accurate insights to track business and product risk performance across key metrics and time windows.
- Examine user behavior to find security vulnerabilities and help build anomaly detection systems that surface suspicious events early.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to create data-driven rules that stop malicious activity while minimizing false positives.
- Utilize GenAI tools like Cursor or Gemini to automate metric reviews, generate queries, and maintain alerting logic.
- Apply auto-adaptive risk frameworks to validate and refine safety rules as platform conditions and attacker strategies evolve.
- Support data initiatives including metric onboarding, pipeline maintenance, and architectural improvements to ensure reliability and scalability.
- Design experiments to measure the impact of rule changes and contribute to a culture of evidence based decision making.
- Maintain documentation for analytical assets, logic, and assumptions so that findings are transparent and reproducible.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to embed analytics into control tower dashboards and operational workflows.
- Contribute to the integrity of data by implementing checks, definitions, and validations that uphold high standards of quality.
- Translate business objectives into analytical roadmaps that balance immediate risk reduction with long term platform health.
- Work within an agile operating model to deliver insights, iterate on feedback, and adjust analysis as new information emerges.
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience in quantitative or data focused roles that involve rigorous analysis and clear decision impact.
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Analytics, or a related field that provides foundational knowledge of data systems and methods.
- Proficiency in Python and SQL to manipulate data, build logic, and communicate clearly with engineering partners.
- Strong visualization skills using tools such as Tableau or Power BI to craft clear narratives for both technical and non technical audiences.
- Knowledge of experimentation and statistical methods to evaluate interventions and interpret observed effects.
- Familiarity with system thinking to understand how changes in one part of the platform can affect risk and user outcomes elsewhere.
- Basic awareness of AI and ML concepts relevant to risk analysis, including model thinking and bias considerations.
- Comfort working with ambiguous requirements and turning them into structured analytical plans that can be validated.
Nice to have
- Experience with GenAI tools for automating routine analysis, writing queries, or maintaining documentation.
- Understanding of auto-adaptive risk frameworks and how they can be tuned in response to changing threat landscapes.
- Exposure to building or maintaining data pipelines, metric onboarding processes, or platform architecture improvements.
- Track record of collaborating with security, operations, and product teams to operationalize analytical insights.
