About the role
You will own the technical strategy and execution roadmap for our AI native enterprise platform. You will design and evolve the core system architecture that powers real-time AI agents for Fortune 500 customers. You will lead a high-performing engineering team and mentor engineers to deliver production-grade solutions. You will make critical tradeoffs between speed, reliability, and complexity as we scale globally. You will write impactful code while ensuring engineering quality and operational excellence across the organization. You will partner closely with product and customers to turn ambiguous requirements into robust technical approaches. You will drive initiatives that define what we build next and how we build it at scale.

What you'll do
- Define and lead the technical strategy for our AI native enterprise automation platform.
- Architect and scale the core infrastructure that supports real-time voice and chat AI agents.
- Lead complex, high-stakes projects where technical decisions have broad business impact.
- Hire, grow, and mentor an elite engineering team focused on quality and execution.
- Drive system design discussions and set standards for code review and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with enterprise customers to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
- Own key integrations across voice, chat, and email workflows for Fortune 500 use cases.
- Analyze system performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability at scale.
- Balance speed of delivery with long-term architectural integrity under uncertainty.
- Write production code to unblock critical paths and maintain hands-on technical leadership.
- Partner with product to prioritize features that align with platform vision and scalability.
- Establish best practices for deployment, monitoring, and resilience in production environments.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and propose adoptions that strengthen our platform edge.
- Communicate technical tradeoffs to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders clearly.
Requirements
- Bring 8+ years of hands-on engineering experience with a strong track record of leading complex projects.
- Demonstrate a history of hiring and leading teams from scratch in fast-paced environments.
- Form clear opinions on system design and articulate tradeoffs behind architectural decisions.
- Take vague, high-level problems and develop clear technical approaches with minimal guidance.
- Write excellent code and hold peers to a high standard without becoming a delivery bottleneck.
- Thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving situations while maintaining focus on long-term outcomes.
- Show comfort with hard technical problems where the right answer is not immediately obvious.
- Prove you can build systems that scale and understand the failure modes at each order of magnitude.
- Have experience with backend development in Python and TypeScript within modern web stacks.
- Demonstrate deep familiarity with cloud infrastructure, containerization, and orchestration platforms.
- Show commitment to operational excellence, monitoring, and reliability in production systems.
- Exhibit strong collaboration skills across cross-functional teams and enterprise customers.
- Display judgment for prioritizing technical debt versus new feature development.
- Maintain a growth mindset and contribute to a culture of learning and mentorship.
Nice to have
- Experience contributing to open source projects that demonstrate engineering leadership.
- Background in AI or voice processing systems within enterprise contexts.
- Familiarity with compliance and security requirements for large-scale B2C platforms.
- Track record of mentoring engineers through structured career growth programs.
- Experience with A/B testing frameworks and data-driven decision making in product teams.
- Contributions to scaling systems that handle global traffic across multiple regions.
Practical notes
- This is a full-time role based in New York.
