Senior Frontend Engineer
Job description
About the role
This role defines and evolves the frontend platform that powers enterprise customer interactions. The position leads architecture and delivery for real-time AI experiences used by large global enterprises. It guides product and engineering alignment on user-facing products and design systems. The hire will own the frontend layer and drive the design system that scales across customer journeys. You will build responsive, accessible, and high-performance interfaces that serve enterprise traffic and complexity. You translate product vision into concrete launch plans, run sprint execution, and deliver high-impact releases that customers use every day. You shape technical architecture decisions that define the foundation of customer-facing solutions.
Key facts
What you'll do
You own the frontend layer and drive the design system that scales across customer journeys. You build responsive, accessible, and high-performance interfaces that serve enterprise traffic and complexity. You translate product vision into concrete launch plans, run sprint execution, and deliver high-impact releases that customers use every day. You shape technical architecture decisions that define the foundation of customer-facing solutions. You collaborate closely with founders and engineers to refine requirements and prioritize work in an agile environment. You implement and maintain component libraries using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Next.js to ensure consistency and speed across products. You partner with product managers and backend engineers to define integration contracts and data flow for seamless user experiences. You optimize application performance, accessibility, and reliability for high-traffic enterprise scenarios. You write and review tests to maintain code quality and reduce regressions in production systems. You mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices through code reviews and documentation.
Requirements
The posting states a bachelor's degree requirement. You bring 7+ years of frontend experience building with JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Next.js. You have a strong background from a top-tier engineering program and have implemented design systems or collaborated closely with designers on UI foundations. You prefer environments shaped by startup momentum and operate with high ownership in production-grade projects. You commit to full on-site availability for all work days. You communicate clearly and value face-to-face interaction as much as technical skill. You understand how to turn product ideas into working code in small, focused teams. You participate actively in sprint planning, daily standups, code review, and debugging sessions. You recognize that clear communication is as important as technical implementation in this role.
Practical notes
The role requires on-site presence with no remote options. Team collaboration involves close work with founders, product managers, and backend engineers. Typical interview steps include a recruiter screen followed by one or two technical rounds where candidates solve a coding problem, discuss past projects, and answer system design questions. Some loops may include a take-home task, with final rounds focusing on team fit and providing an opportunity for you to ask questions. Interviewers evaluate how you break down an unfamiliar problem, not just whether you reach the answer. Practicing a few problems aloud and reviewing your own past projects are the best preparation. The hiring process values clarity of thought, collaboration, and demonstrated experience with modern frontend practices.
Career growth and impact
Engineering careers usually progress from individual contributor to senior, staff, and principal levels. Some engineers move into management and lead teams of five to twenty people. Others stay on the technical track. Growth follows demonstrated impact, not tenure alone. A typical engineering ladder has clear levels with defined expectations for scope, quality, and mentorship. Moving up usually requires owning outcomes end to end rather than completing assigned tickets. This role provides a path to influence platform decisions and lead initiatives that affect enterprise customers directly.
Questions to ask
Good questions to ask the employer in the interview: what does success look like in the first six months, how is the team structured, what is the current biggest challenge, and how are decisions made. Asking about growth paths and the review process is also well received. Employers expect questions, and good ones show preparation.
Work model and logistics
You will work full time on-site in San Francisco with the team. There are no remote or flexible work options for this position. Office hours align with standard business days, and availability during core hours is required for collaboration. Travel is not expected as part of this role. There are no visa sponsorship details provided in this posting. Application deadlines are not specified, so interested candidates should reach out promptly through standard hiring channels.
