Gemtec is seeking an experienced Intermediate or Senior Bridge Engineer to join our dynamic team in Moncton, New Brunswick. What you'll do
- Lead the design and analysis of bridge structures, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Conduct detailed assessments of existing bridges to evaluate their condition and recommend necessary repairs or upgrades.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, civil engineers, and project managers, to deliver integrated engineering solutions.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation that clearly articulate design decisions, methodologies, and project progress.
- Utilize advanced engineering software and tools to model bridge designs and perform structural analyses.
- Participate in site inspections and assessments to monitor construction activities and ensure adherence to design specifications.
- Mentor junior engineers and interns, providing guidance and support to foster their professional development.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to understand project requirements and provide expert advice on bridge engineering matters.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to enhance the quality of engineering services provided.
- Contribute to the preparation of project proposals, including scope, budget, and timelines, to secure new business opportunities.
- Ensure that all engineering work is completed within established budgets and timelines, maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
- Participate in professional development activities and pursue relevant certifications to enhance your expertise in bridge engineering.
Requirements
- A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, with a focus on structural or bridge engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in bridge design and analysis, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration in New Brunswick.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian bridge design codes and standards, including the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC).
- Proficiency in structural analysis software such as SAP2000, LUSAS, or similar tools.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex engineering concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
- A commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in engineering practices.
- Familiarity with project management principles and experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Nice to have
- Experience with bridge inspection and evaluation techniques, including NDT methods.
- Knowledge of sustainable design practices and materials in bridge engineering.
- Previous experience working on large-scale infrastructure projects or within a consulting engineering environment.
- Membership in professional organizations such as the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE) or the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
Skills & tools
- Proficient in AutoCAD and other design software relevant to bridge engineering.
- Familiarity with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for site analysis and planning.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed engineering decisions.
- Competence in project management software to track project progress and manage resources effectively.
