This full-time position focuses on designing and overseeing the technical architecture of enterprise software products. The role requires close collaboration with engineering, product, and customer-facing teams to ensure solutions meet both technical and business objectives. The architect will play a key part in shaping the direction of Freshworks platforms and helping teams build reliable, scalable systems. This position involves working across the full software development lifecycle from initial concept through production deployment and ongoing optimization. The architect will also contribute to architectural governance and help establish standards that promote consistency and quality across all engineering deliverables.

What you'll do
- Lead the architectural design of enterprise-grade software solutions across multiple product lines, service offerings, and internal platforms.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams across the organization to define technical standards, coding conventions, and best practices for development workflows.
- Translate complex business requirements gathered from stakeholders into detailed technical specifications and comprehensive system designs that are actionable.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and assess their potential applicability to Freshworks product offerings, future roadmaps, competitive positioning, and long-term strategic goals.
- Guide development teams through implementation challenges and provide hands-on technical mentorship, constructive code feedback, and architectural decision support.
- Conduct thorough code and design reviews to ensure all deliverables align with established architectural principles, patterns, and governance standards.
- Work directly with product managers to scope new features, estimate technical effort, identify dependencies, and plan release timelines accurately.
- Create and maintain comprehensive architectural documentation including detailed diagrams, decision records, technology rationale documents, and risk assessments.
- Partner with quality assurance teams to define testing strategies, identify risk areas, establish quality gates, and ensure quality for complex systems.
- Drive the adoption of reusable components, shared libraries, and proven architectural patterns across the entire engineering organization and product groups.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution is required for consideration.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in software architecture, solution design, or senior engineering roles within enterprise environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing distributed systems and cloud-based applications that operate reliably and efficiently at scale under production workloads.
- Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Python, or Go is expected for this position.
- Experience working directly with enterprise customers to understand their needs, gather requirements, and solve complex business problems effectively.
- Familiarity with microservices architecture and containerization technologies including Docker and Kubernetes orchestration platforms is necessary for success.
- Proven ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and persuasively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in various settings.
- Track record of delivering large-scale enterprise solutions on time and within strict budget constraints and timelines consistently.
Nice to have
- Experience with Freshworks products such as Freshdesk or Freshservice is considered a strong plus for this architect position.
- Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipeline design and implementation is highly valued in this position.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and iterative delivery cycles across large, cross-functional engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior experience mentoring junior architects and leading technical workshops or collaborative design review sessions regularly.
Skills & tools
- Enterprise architecture frameworks and proven design patterns for building scalable, maintainable, and resilient software systems.
- Cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud and their core services and offerings.
- API design and integration using REST and GraphQL protocols for modern application communication.
- Database technologies including both SQL relational databases and NoSQL document and key-value stores.
- Version control systems such as Git and collaborative code review workflows using pull request models.
- Infrastructure as code tools like Terraform or AWS CloudFormation for automated environment provisioning and configuration management.
