About the role
Fraxion is seeking a dedicated QA Tester to join our dynamic team in Cape Town, Western Cape. In this full-time position, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our software products. As a QA Tester, you will be responsible for designing and executing test plans, identifying defects, and collaborating closely with developers to enhance the overall user experience. Key facts
What you'll do
- Develop comprehensive test plans and test cases based on software requirements and specifications.
- Execute functional, regression, and performance testing to ensure the software meets quality standards.
- Identify, document, and track defects using appropriate tools, ensuring timely resolution with the development team.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers and product managers, to understand project requirements and provide feedback on potential improvements.
- Participate in daily stand-ups and sprint planning sessions to provide updates on testing progress and challenges.
- Conduct exploratory testing to uncover issues that may not be captured in formal test cases.
- Maintain and update automated test scripts to ensure they remain effective as the software evolves.
- Assist in the continuous improvement of QA processes and methodologies to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior QA team members, fostering a culture of quality within the team.
- Analyze test results and generate detailed reports to communicate findings to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices in software testing.
- Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in software testing to continually improve skills and knowledge.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in software quality assurance or testing.
- Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and testing methodologies.
- Proficiency in test management and defect tracking tools, such as JIRA or TestRail.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Cypress) is highly desirable.
- Solid knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Java, Python) to assist in test automation.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
Nice to have
- Experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies and working in a collaborative team environment.
- Familiarity with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner).
- Knowledge of API testing and tools such as Postman or SoapUI.
- Experience in mobile application testing is a plus.
- Certification in software testing (e.g., ISTQB, CSTE) is advantageous.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in using test management tools like JIRA, TestRail, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and their role in automated testing.
- Experience with database testing and SQL for backend validation.
- Knowledge of security testing principles and practices.
