About the role
Flux is building the world's first AI Hardware Engineer, and that means everything around it has to just work. As a Platform Engineer, you'll own the full-stack systems that make the Flux platform feel seamless to end users, covering billing, authentication, onboarding, and integrations. You are responsible for shipping production features that impact every user, ensuring the platform remains reliable and available at all times. You will maintain the infrastructure that allows Flux to scale from early adopters to a growing customer base. You will partner closely with product and design to translate high level concepts into robust, user-facing platform capabilities. You will implement and enforce standards for logging, monitoring, and error tracking across your services. Ultimately, you will play a central role in enabling Flux to deliver on its mission of making hardware creation accessible to anyone with a natural language prompt.

What you'll do
- Build and maintain user-facing platform features focused on billing, authentication, onboarding, and account settings.
- Integrate and maintain critical third-party APIs such as Stripe, Firebase, and analytics providers.
- Write high-quality TypeScript, Node.js backend services and React frontend components.
- Drive improvements in reliability and performance for core platform flows and user journeys.
- Implement observability standards, logging, and error-tracking to gain insight into production behavior.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design APIs that support new products and external integrations.
- Document system architecture and best practices for your domain to enable knowledge sharing and consistency.
- Optimize deployment pipelines and cloud configurations to support fast, safe, and repeatable releases.
- Troubleshoot complex issues that span frontend, backend, and third-party service dependencies.
- Participate in on-call rotations to respond to production incidents and minimize user impact.
- Mentor junior engineers by providing clear code reviews, feedback, and technical guidance.
- Explore and prototype new tools and workflows that enhance the efficiency of the platform engineering team.
- Ensure compliance with security and privacy best practices in all platform features.
- Contribute to roadmap planning by providing technical insights and identifying dependencies or risks early.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or have equivalent practical experience.
- Possess 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building production systems.
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in TypeScript, Node.js, and React for full-stack development.
- Show extensive experience integrating and maintaining third-party APIs in production environments.
- Have a proven track record of shipping production full-stack web applications that serve real users.
- Exhibit familiarity with cloud hosting platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Firebase, and understand CI/CD fundamentals.
- Apply strong debugging and cross-system troubleshooting skills to diagnose issues in distributed systems.
- Communicate effectively in writing and speaking, and thrive in asynchronous, remote-first team settings.
- Understand the importance of reliability, performance, and user impact in software decisions.
- Are comfortable working with minimal supervision and taking ownership of complex problems.
- Value collaboration and are able to influence technical decisions through clear communication and evidence.
- Respect legal and policy requirements, including compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Are willing to consent to background checks and verification of credentials as part of the hiring process.
Nice to have
- Experience building and operating multi-tenant SaaS platforms or collaborative web applications.
- Hands-on familiarity with authentication frameworks such as OAuth, JWT, and Firebase Auth.
- Exposure to observability and monitoring stacks like Sentry, Datadog, or Grafana.
- Prior experience building internal tools, admin dashboards, or operational tooling.
- Startup or 0-to-1 product-building experience where you shaped a product from initial concept to launch.
- Experience contributing to open source projects or publishing reusable software packages.
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools and container orchestration concepts.
- Understanding of software licensing models and go-to-market mechanics for SaaS products.
- Experience working with financial services integrations and compliance considerations.
- Exposure to version control workflows and code review practices at scale.
- Ability to write technical documentation that helps both engineers and non-engineers understand systems.
