About the role
You own the end-to-end commercial sales cycle for new business within the cloud contact center and unified communications market. You consult with enterprise and mid-market customers to uncover complex business challenges and position Five9 as the strategic platform for digital customer engagement. You articulate the value of cloud-native contact center solutions and differentiate the brand in a competitive landscape. You partner closely with Customer Success and Product teams to ensure alignment between sold outcomes and realized value. You champion the customer-first culture by demonstrating integrity, transparency, and collaboration in every interaction. You leverage data and pipeline intelligence to forecast accurately and drive continuous improvement in win rates. You act as the primary subject matter expert, translating intricate technology capabilities into clear business outcomes for both technical and executive stakeholders.

What you'll do
- Research and identify target accounts, mapping key decision makers and stakeholder influencers across vertical segments.
- Generate and qualify inbound inquiries, transforming warm interest into structured sales opportunities with clear business value.
- Conduct discovery sessions to understand customer pain points, current state, and future-state vision for customer experience operations.
- Design and present tailored solution narratives that align Five9 capabilities with measurable business objectives and ROI.
- Build and maintain a robust, multi-stage sales pipeline that reflects realistic close dates and probability-weighted forecasts.
- Collaborate with Sales Operations to ensure CRM hygiene, accurate opportunity tracking, and adherence to defined sales stage criteria.
- Partner with Customer Success to validate implementation feasibility and post-sale adoption strategies.
- Navigate complex procurement processes, including responding to security questionnaires and supporting formal evaluation cycles.
- Negotiate terms and scope alignment with internal stakeholders to position offers that balance competitiveness and profitability.
- Articulate competitive differentiators, including security, scalability, and integration depth within the contact center ecosystem.
- Leverage sales analytics to refine messaging, adjust playbooks, and focus efforts on highest-yield activities.
- Represent Five9 at virtual and in-person industry events, building awareness and generating qualified demand.
- Maintain expert knowledge of product roadmaps, service updates, and competitive positioning to support ongoing enablement.
- Mentor junior team members on consultative techniques, objection handling, and pipeline management best practices.
- Demonstrate resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced, quota-driven environment while maintaining a positive, team-first mindset.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in direct sales, preferably in Contact Center as a Service (CCaaS) or Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS).
- Demonstrated success driving sales process and closing business over the phone with consistent achievement of quota.
- Excellent sales and presentation skills via phone, email, and web-conference across diverse audiences.
- Ability to articulate complex technology concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences with clarity and confidence.
- Experience with CRM systems, preferably Salesforce.com, and strict adherence to data governance standards.
- College degree (BA/BS) is required as a baseline credential for professional roles.
- Energetic, upbeat, tenacious, and recognized as a strong team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable working within a structured sales methodology while applying creative problem-solving to unique customer scenarios.
- Willingness to manage a high volume of opportunities and prioritize activities based on pipeline impact and strategic value.
- Commitment to ethical sales practices, compliance with company policies, and protection of confidential customer information.
Nice to have
- Knowledge and understanding of contact center and unified communications technology concepts and use cases.
- Familiarity with cloud services, VoIP protocols, and associated service-level considerations.
- Previous experience with Salesforce.com CRM and related sales automation tools.
- Software-as-a-Service Applications (Cloud) experience and understanding of subscription-based purchasing models.
- Prior engagement with enterprise technology buying committees and stakeholder management at scale.
- Demonstrated success in consultative selling within highly competitive vendor environments.
- Experience supporting customer onboarding and adoption initiatives to reinforce long-term value realization.

Work
Location: This role is hybrid. 3 days a week (T, W, TH) in our San Ramon office is required.
