About the role
The in Asia owns the execution of quality standards across the regional supply chain for humanoid robot production. This role focuses on ensuring that external suppliers consistently meet the rigorous quality expectations required for general purpose humanoid robots designed to address labor shortages and automate hazardous tasks. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining comprehensive quality management plans that align with Figure's internal standards and manufacturing objectives. The position requires proactive oversight of supplier performance to drive continuous improvement in quality outcomes and operational reliability. You will act as a technical authority on inspection strategies and manufacturing processes to support suppliers in meeting design requirements. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential to resolve quality issues and implement effective corrective actions. This role is critical in bridging the gap between headquarters quality expectations and on-site supplier execution in Asia.

What you'll do
- Qualify new vendors and establish comprehensive quality management plans to ensure supplier readiness for production demands.
- Track supplier performance data and lead initiatives to improve quality outcomes through targeted interventions and process optimization.
- Validate inspection documentation, including First Article Inspection, outgoing quality control, and in-process reports to confirm compliance with specifications.
- Conduct on-site quality audits at supplier facilities to assess adherence to standards and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Provide technical feedback on Design for Manufacturing and inspection strategies to enhance part manufacturability and reduce defects.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective action processes to resolve quality defects and prevent recurrence across the supply chain.
- Act as the primary bridge between our headquarters and regional suppliers to ensure clear communication on quality requirements and expectations.
- Monitor supplier delivery performance and collaborate on logistics to support production schedules and reduce downtime.
- Develop and maintain supplier quality metrics dashboards to support data-driven decision making and trend analysis.
- Assist in the development of standardized work instructions and quality procedures for suppliers to ensure process consistency.
- Perform material reviews and disposition of non-conforming components in alignment with company policies and customer requirements.
- Support the implementation of lean manufacturing principles to improve efficiency and reduce waste in supplier processes.
- Coordinate with engineering and procurement teams to ensure design changes are communicated and implemented correctly at supplier sites.
- Ensure all supplier quality activities comply with regulatory requirements and industry best practices for consumer robotics products.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing quality role within a regulated or high-volume production environment.
- Professional fluency in both English and Mandarin Chinese to enable effective communication with suppliers and stakeholders.
- Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and CAD files to validate supplier processes and outputs.
- Expertise in GD&T standards ASME Y14.5-2009 or ASME Y14.5-2018 for ensuring dimensional accuracy and compliance.
- Mastery of C=0 sampling plans and ASQ Z1.4/MIL-STD-105 standards for acceptance sampling and quality control.
- Proficiency with measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, digital height gauges, and thread gauges for inspection and verification.
- Experience with injection molding, die casting, and stamping processes commonly used in high-volume manufacturing.
- Ability to travel up to 50% of the time to conduct audits, reviews, and on-site supplier assessments across Asia.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret quality data, identify trends, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Commitment to maintaining high ethical standards and confidentiality when handling supplier and company information.
- Willingness to adhere to Figure's quality management systems and contribute to the maintenance of ISO standards where applicable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on achieving practical and sustainable solutions for supplier quality issues.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills to articulate quality expectations and findings to technical and non-technical audiences.

- Professional certifications including ASQ CQE, CQM, CRE, or CQA to demonstrate advanced knowledge in quality engineering.
- Background in the robotics or high-tech manufacturing sectors to align with Figure's industry and product focus.
- Familiarity with industrial engineering principles and quality management systems to support process optimization.
- Experience with PCBA, wire harness assemblies, cables, and textiles relevant to the assembly of robotic systems.
- Understanding of automation testing methods and in-circuit testing for electronic subsystems.
- Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC) techniques and the use of control charts in manufacturing.
- Exposure to medical device or automotive quality standards as a basis for understanding strict compliance requirements.
- Experience with APQP, FMEA, and PPAP processes to support new product introductions with suppliers.
