About the role
Figma is hiring product designers to build the future of collaborative software creation. You will work across various focus areas including the Figma Editor, AI features, interactivity, design systems, and developer tools. This role involves solving complex technical challenges while maintaining a focus on user-centered design and product quality. You will own the end-to-end design process for critical product initiatives, translating ambiguous problems into clear and executable design strategies. The position requires balancing long-term product vision with the immediate constraints of engineering feasibility and business goals. You will act as a design leader, influencing product direction through data, user empathy, and craft excellence. Key facts
What you'll do
- Define product strategy and contribute to high-level decision-making for the Figma platform.
- Communicate product opportunities and requirements through clear storytelling to stakeholders and executives.
- Collaborate with engineering, product management, and research partners to align on solutions and timelines.
- Develop and refine flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals for both web and native experiences.
- Provide constructive feedback to peers to maintain high design standards across the organization.
- Ship features and improvements within the core product, ensuring quality and usability are met.
- Participate in design critiques, mentor team members, and share knowledge across the organization.
- Conduct user research and translate findings into design decisions that improve the overall product experience.
- Explore and prototype emerging interactions specific to AI tools and creative workflows.
- Advocate for design systems integrity to ensure consistency and efficiency in product development.
- Partner with dev tools teams to create workflows that bridge the gap between design and implementation.
- Evaluate the impact of design changes through metrics and user feedback to inform future iterations.
- Lead the design of canvas-based interfaces that power creative work and collaboration.
- Contribute to the evolution of Figma's design system by creating reusable patterns and guidelines.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in UX and UI design for complex software products.
- Strong visual craft, including layout, typography, and composition.
- Proficiency in interaction design and prototyping.
- Proven ability to manage design projects from initial discovery to final launch.
- Experience using structured thinking and user research to guide design decisions.
- Skill in simplifying ambiguous problems within complex systems.
- Experience building, researching, or prototyping with AI or emerging creative tools.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, iterative environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- A portfolio that demonstrates your process, thinking, and final design outcomes.
- Understanding of accessibility principles and how to apply them in digital products.
- Comfort working with design and code to validate design assumptions.
- Willingness to engage in hands-on design work across all product interfaces.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of design quality and detail orientation.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of web technologies like CSS and HTML.
- Experience with prototyping tools such as Origami.
- Proficiency in advanced Figma features like Components, Variables, and Auto Layout.
- Background as a design/development hybrid or experience building apps and websites.

Practical notes
Annual base salary range: $169,000 to $303,000 USD. Compensation is determined by individual qualifications, experience, and location. Benefits include equity, health/dental/vision insurance, retirement contributions, parental leave, mental health support, and paid time off. Candidates must keep cameras on during video interviews.
