What you'll do
- Assemble and nurture a high-performing engineering team that excels in their respective roles and responsibilities.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to engineers through regular feedback sessions and career development initiatives, scaling the team as needed.
- Work closely with both technical and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Continuously refine team processes to foster iterative development, innovation, and reliability in product delivery.
- Drive enhancements in engineering practices, team collaboration, and incident management protocols.
- Identify and resolve systemic challenges that impact team performance and project delivery.
- Foster a culture of transparency, safety, and growth within the engineering team.
- Champion best practices in software development and encourage a mindset of continuous learning and improvement.
Requirements
- A minimum of 12 to 15 years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of managing technical teams consisting of 5 to 8 engineers, with experience in effectively scaling teams.
- Strong expertise in project planning and execution, including defining project scope, prioritizing tasks, managing risks, and tracking progress across multiple streams.
- Experience in managing cross-functional dependencies and aligning engineering and product teams using Agile methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
- Demonstrated success in building high-performing teams and nurturing engineering talent.
- Ability to balance competing priorities while ensuring timely delivery, quality, and long-term scalability of software platforms.
- Experience collaborating with business stakeholders to convert requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with cloud-native architectures and microservices design principles.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
- Knowledge of performance monitoring and optimization techniques for distributed systems.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in platform and API development using Node.js and GraphQL, with frontend experience in React and TypeScript/JavaScript.
- Extensive experience in designing, deploying, and managing cloud-native services on AWS, focusing on scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
- Hands-on capability to review technical designs, guide complex implementations, and assist teams in overcoming technical challenges.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, API design, and modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD and operational readiness.
- Excellent technical judgment and problem-solving skills, with a focus on making informed trade-offs to achieve project goals.
Communication and collaboration skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capacity to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Proven experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to achieve common goals.
