What you'll do
- Provide comprehensive administrative support to the legal team, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and organizing legal documents.
- Assist in the preparation and review of legal documents, contracts, and agreements to ensure accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Maintain and update legal databases and filing systems, ensuring that all documents are properly organized and easily accessible.
- Conduct legal research on various topics as needed, summarizing findings and presenting them to the legal team for review.
- Liaise with external legal counsel and regulatory bodies, facilitating communication and ensuring that all necessary documentation is submitted in a timely manner.
- Monitor and track deadlines for legal filings, ensuring that all submissions are completed on time and in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Assist in the development and implementation of legal policies and procedures, helping to ensure that the organization remains compliant with all relevant laws.
- Support the legal team in preparing for litigation and other legal proceedings, including gathering evidence and organizing case files.
- Collaborate with other departments within the organization to provide legal guidance and support on various projects and initiatives.
- Participate in training sessions and workshops to stay updated on legal trends and best practices, enhancing your knowledge and skills in the legal field.
- Prepare reports and presentations for internal stakeholders, summarizing legal matters and providing insights into potential risks and opportunities.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment by contributing to team meetings and sharing ideas for process improvements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in law, paralegal studies, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a legal support role, preferably within a corporate or law firm setting.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology and principles, with the ability to interpret and apply regulations effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal research tools.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements relevant to the industry is a plus.
Nice to have
- Experience with contract management software or legal case management systems.
- Familiarity with data privacy laws and regulations, such as GDPR or CCPA.
- Previous experience in a tax-related legal environment is advantageous.
- Certification as a paralegal or legal assistant is a plus.
