Key facts

What you'll do

• Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP and company policies.
• Manage the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance and support to foster their professional development.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support strategic initiatives.
• Conduct regular audits of financial processes and controls to identify areas for improvement and mitigate risks.
• Prepare and coordinate the annual budget process, working closely with department heads to align financial goals with organizational objectives.
• Liaise with external auditors during the annual audit process, ensuring all necessary documentation is provided and issues are resolved promptly.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or revenue enhancement.
• Stay current with industry regulations and best practices to ensure the accounting function remains compliant and competitive.
• Assist in the implementation of new accounting software or tools to streamline processes and improve reporting capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA certification is highly preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
• Proven experience in managing a team and leading accounting functions effectively.
• Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
• High level of integrity and professionalism in handling confidential information.

Nice to have

• Experience in the tax preparation industry or with tax compliance is a plus.
• Familiarity with financial forecasting and modeling techniques.
• Knowledge of international accounting standards if applicable to the business.
• Previous experience in process improvement initiatives within the accounting function.
• Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and complex formulas.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).
• Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Familiarity with financial reporting tools and dashboards.
• Knowledge of tax software and compliance tools is advantageous.
