Key facts
What you'll do
Scheduled audits and cycle counts keep system data aligned with physical stock to prevent discrepancies across branches. Daily reviews of inventory levels match business demand and forecast patterns to avoid overstock or shortages.
Verified receiving processes check delivery quantity and quality, logging items into the inventory system and storing them in assigned locations for shopfloor or customer use. Returns of old stock are processed according to guidelines and timeframes, with clear communication to relevant teams.
Organized stockroom operations maintain clear labeling and safe storage, while monitored flow connects the distribution center and the store. Administrative support for online orders is delivered through replenishment and coordination with the Stockroom Team.
Ongoing process improvements reduce stock issues by updating workflows and implementing new procedures alongside the Stockroom Manager. Loss-prevention action plans are created in collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent stock-related procedures. Inventory and operational data are compiled into weekly and monthly reports, while online order queries regarding missing stock are investigated time-efficiently.
Requirements
A degree is required for the position.
Previous stockroom experience, ideally in a stock controller function, is expected.
High proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is essential.
Experience with software such as Storm, D365, or Shopify is preferred.
The ability to manage independent tasks and support team collaboration across Personal Shoppers and Loss Prevention is necessary.
Clear written and oral communication skills are required.
Accuracy, attention to detail, flexibility, and strong problem-solving abilities are essential.
Practical notes
Equal opportunities policies apply throughout recruitment. Typical interview steps
Finance interviews usually include technical questions on accounting or modeling, a case study, and behavioral rounds. Candidates may be asked to build a forecast or explain a variance. Spreadsheet skills are tested in most loops. Accuracy and clear explanations matter. Interviewers may give a real dataset and ask for a quick analysis. Showing your work and explaining assumptions matters as much as the final number.
Good to know
Inventory control roles rely on precise data tracking and cross-department coordination. Retail environments use specialized software for stock management and reporting. Clear communication supports smooth store operations and customer satisfaction.
Questions to ask
Useful questions for the interview: what a typical week looks like, how work is assigned, what tools the team uses, and how feedback works. Asking how the role has changed recently and what the team wishes it had known when joining is also reasonable. Questions about the manager's priorities are especially valued.
Career growth
Finance careers move from analyst to senior analyst, manager, and controller or FP&A director levels. Some people earn certifications such as CPA or CFA. Cross-functional work with operations and leadership grows with seniority. Finance careers reward precision early and business partnership later. Learning the operations of the company beyond the numbers accelerates growth.
