Software Engineer, Growth
Job description
Software Engineer, Growth at Fal Ai.
About the role
You will architect and ship the growth experiments that define how developers first encounter and adopt fal as their generative media backbone. This role owns the full funnel from anonymous visitor to activated production team, translating raw demand signals into engineered growth loops. You will collaborate directly with product and GTM to turn strategic hypotheses into measurable engineering outcomes that scale. Your work will be visible in every demo, every API call, and every line of generated content that flows through the platform. You will build the scrappy infrastructure that lets marketing, sales, and product move at the speed of modern software development. When you perform well, the company's trajectory bends because you removed friction from the moment a developer signs up. You will treat every prototype as a potential product and every data anomaly as a signal worth investigating at scale.
Key facts
What you'll do
Spin up lightweight client libraries, demo apps, or event microsites in a few hours using modern JavaScript and Python runtimes.
Run data-driven experiments that isolate variables across acquisition channels and map them to downstream activation and retention.
Segment cohorts by behavior and outcome, then design A/B tests that cleanly separate signal from noise in conversion patterns.
Automate reporting pipelines so that growth metrics flow into dashboards without manual spreadsheet gymnastics.
Draft compelling blog posts, tweets, and teardown threads that translate complex media AI concepts into practical developer guidance.
Own customer touchpoints by meeting prospects, debugging their first API calls, and representing fal at meetups and hackathons with technical credibility.
Identify high-leverage problems, time-box solutions with strict milestones, and ship minimal paths to validated learning.
Query large behavioral datasets in SQL to surface friction points and opportunities across the onboarding and upgrade journey.
Instrument event streams and observability layers so that every user interaction is actionable for growth and product teams.
Evangelize generative media best practices through content that earns attention and drives qualified sign-ups from crowded markets.
Build internal tooling that lets non-technical teammates run experiments, inspect results, and iterate without engineering bottlenecks.
Champion a culture of shipping fast, learning faster, and turning every demo into a data point that improves the platform.
Requirements
Ship code at the speed of thought with fluency in Python and JavaScript (Next.js, React) while maintaining high standards for reliability and testing.
Live in the metrics by treating SQL, Amplitude or Looker, and plain-text CSVs as primary sources of truth for decision making.
Write to persuade with copy that is human, helpful, and opinionated, cutting through AI slop to deliver clarity.
Love people as much as code by thriving in demos, direct messages, and in-person events where relationships are built.
Crave ownership by embracing ambiguous problems and blank pages that would intimidate less curious engineers.
Geek out on generative media by following the latest diffusion papers and forming strong opinions on video model architectures and inference tradeoffs.
Comfortably navigate a fast-moving startup environment where priorities shift and engineering judgment must align with business outcomes.
Communicate clearly across disciplines, translating technical constraints into growth opportunities and roadmap decisions.
Nice to have
Prior experience in PLG or developer-tool startups where growth loops are engineered into the product core.
Familiarity with growth analytics stacks that connect event data to business metrics and experimentation platforms.
A portfolio of technical writing, open-source libraries, or side projects that demonstrate curiosity and shipped impact.
