About the role
The Brand team at Faire concentrates on enabling merchants to build and maintain high-quality product catalogs that reach retailers globally. You will work across the full stack to design and implement features that help independent businesses compete effectively. In this capacity, you will own the end to end execution of initiatives that directly influence how products are discovered and presented on the marketplace. You will collaborate closely with cross functional partners to translate business objectives into robust technical solutions. The role requires a proactive mindset to identify opportunities and drive measurable improvements to the brand experience. You will be responsible for ensuring that new features are delivered with high standards of performance and reliability. Ultimately, your work will empower merchants to grow their businesses by making the platform more intuitive and efficient. This position operates within a fast paced environment where priorities evolve quickly and adaptability is essential. You will engage with complex business problems that require creative technical solutions while balancing user needs with platform constraints. The successful candidate will demonstrate ownership over product outcomes and contribute to strategic discussions that define the future of merchant tools. What you'll do
- Partner with product managers, designers, and marketing to drive business and platform success through collaborative discovery sessions and structured problem solving.
- Manage multi-phase projects from initial concept through to final deployment, including scoping, planning, tracking, and stakeholder communication.
- Develop features across backend, frontend, and mobile environments to ensure a consistent user experience and cohesive product language.
- Improve application performance and scalability while maintaining code quality and long term maintainability for high traffic catalog operations.
- Provide mentorship to other engineers regarding technical and product decisions to elevate the overall team capability and knowledge base.
- Implement solutions that adhere to strict security and data integrity standards for merchant information and regulatory compliance.
- Optimize data flows and integration points to reduce latency and improve the reliability of catalog operations and search functionality.
- Coordinate with analytics teams to validate feature impact and inform future iterations based on empirical evidence and measured outcomes.
- Troubleshoot complex issues in production systems using structured debugging and root cause analysis techniques to minimize merchant impact.
- Contribute to architectural discussions that shape the future direction of the brand platform and influence technical strategy.
- Create technical documentation that supports both engineers and non technical stakeholders in understanding system behavior and implementation details.
- Ensure that all deliverables meet regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to the markets served and data protection standards.
- Support the continuous improvement of development workflows and tooling to increase team efficiency and developer experience.
- Act as a technical liaison between engineering and business teams to align priorities and resolve ambiguity in requirements or specifications.
- Participate in on call rotations to address critical issues and support rapid resolution of production incidents affecting catalog quality.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of professional engineering experience in a software development role with exposure to production systems.
- Proficiency in Java, Kotlin, or JavaScript as a primary language for building production grade applications and services.
- Experience with HTML, CSS, TypeScript, and frameworks such as React or Next.js for frontend implementation and component design.
- Demonstrated ability to lead product improvements from problem identification to solution implementation, validation, and iteration.
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience that demonstrates foundational knowledge in computing principles.
- Familiarity with agentic coding tools and workflows to enhance development productivity, code quality, and automated testing practices.
- Strong understanding of software development principles including version control, testing strategies, and continuous integration pipelines.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment with structured office attendance and remote collaboration while maintaining team cohesion.
- Knowledge of data modeling and query optimization for relational databases used in high scale applications.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and deployment practices on platforms such as AWS.
