We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a focused expertise in heat exchanger design to join our team in Austin, Texas. This is a full-time position that offers the possibility of relocating to Miami, Florida for the suitable candidate. The role holder will be responsible for the core thermal management systems that define our storage technology. Your work will ensure that energy is captured, moved, and released with maximum efficiency and reliability. You will be instrumental in taking our thermal storage modules from initial concept all the way through to validated performance. The goal is to maintain strict adherence to operational safety and thermal performance under all conditions.
This position is based in Austin, TX, however an alternate location of Miami, FL is possible for the right candidate. If hired for this role, relocation to one of these sites is required. We provide relocation assistance.
Compensation
The base salary for this role ranges from 180000 USD to 220000 USD annually.
Responsibilities
You will design the pathways that control how heat energy flows through our storage hardware. Every decision you make regarding geometry and flow will impact how stable stored power remains when the grid is under stress. You will own the responsibility of guiding entire prototypes through the journey from a simple sketch to a validated physical system. Your analysis will determine if our modules can endure repeated thermal cycles without degradation. You will select materials and fabrication methods that survive demanding operational cycles while fitting within strict spatial constraints. Collaboration with external analysis partners will be necessary to confirm that the thermal behavior matches our precise targets. You will plan and execute measurement campaigns to verify that hardware performs reliably across realistic operating ranges. Creating clear and lasting documentation is a key duty so that future engineering teams can understand every decision and tradeoff made. You will design mechanical interfaces that allow manufacturing teams to assemble modules efficiently, avoiding the need for rework. Supporting field evaluations is essential to reveal any gaps between expected performance and real-world conditions. You will lead rigorous failure mode reviews and update concepts to ensure that similar issues are prevented in the future.
Requirements
The candidate must have direct experience managing heat exchanger projects intended for demanding energy applications. A deep understanding of high temperature systems and phase change materials is essential for success in this role. Hands on familiarity with thermal simulation software and data analysis methods is required. You must have a strong grasp of manufacturing processes and tolerance stack analysis. The ability to manage several complex tasks at once while delivering reliable results on tight deadlines is mandatory.
