About the role
The Senior HR Business Partner serves as a strategic advisor to leadership and employees on all people-related initiatives. This role owns the end-to-end employee relations lifecycle, ensuring fair and consistent resolution of conflicts and grievances. You will lead corporate recruiting efforts for critical positions, shaping employer brand and sourcing strategies to attract diverse talent. The position drives performance management excellence by coaching managers on goal setting, feedback, and development planning. You will ensure strict compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws across the organization. The role leverages data analytics to identify workforce trends and implement evidence-based improvements to engagement and retention. You will conduct exit interviews to capture employee sentiment and translate findings into actionable recommendations for leadership.
Key facts
What you'll do
Analyze employee relations data to identify systemic issues and recommend policy improvements that enhance organizational performance.
Lead investigations into misconduct, harassment, and discrimination allegations, ensuring impartiality, confidentiality, and regulatory compliance.
Coach and mentor managers on effective conflict resolution, performance feedback, and disciplinary procedures to build team capability.
Develop and execute talent acquisition strategies for corporate roles, collaborating with hiring managers to define requirements and evaluate candidates.
Build partnerships with external recruiting agencies and professional networks to establish a robust pipeline of high-quality candidates.
Design and implement performance management frameworks, including goal alignment, review cycles, and feedback mechanisms.
Guide managers through the creation and execution of performance improvement plans (PIPs) to support underperforming employees.
Ensure all HR policies and procedures align with current labor laws, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and wage & hour regulations.
Conduct exit interviews to gather candid feedback and propose improvements to employee experience and retention strategies.
Oversee the employee lifecycle from onboarding through separation, maintaining accurate records and consistent processes.
Champion employer branding initiatives that reflect the company's values and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Leverage technology and HRIS systems to streamline processes, generate reports, and improve decision-making accuracy.
Support special projects such as mergers, acquisitions, and organizational restructuring with structured HR guidance.
Stay current on legislative changes and industry best practices to proactively update policies and training programs.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-SCP, PHR) are preferred.
Minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience with a strong focus on employee relations and performance management.
Demonstrated expertise in recruiting for corporate, executive, and technical roles.
Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and HR best practices.
Proven ability to manage complex employee relations issues with discretion and empathy.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and coaching skills for influencing stakeholders at all levels.
High level of organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience working within a family office setting is required.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities to interpret data and drive HR initiatives.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and reporting.

Nice to have
Previous experience in rail transportation, supply chain logistics, manufacturing, or related industries.
Familiarity with union environments and collective bargaining agreements.
Demonstrated success managing difficult employee relations issues and investigations.
Practical notes
Work is full-time.
Position requires on-site presence at the corporate office four days per week (Monday through Thursday), with flexibility subject to change.
Travel may be required up to 25% based on business needs.
FLSA status is Exempt; this role is not eligible for overtime.
Eligible for annual discretionary bonus.
Benefits and compensation details
Estimated starting annual salary is $119,267.00, determined by merit, seniority, geographic location, education, training, and experience.
