About the role
You take full ownership of tracking and recovering stolen bicycles across the city of Amsterdam. You lead the development and execution of surveillance procedures to monitor hotspots where bikes are at risk. A core part of your role involves organizing and coordinating large scale 'city sweeps' to locate and return missing bikes to their rightful owners. You work closely with law enforcement to ensure all recovery operations are conducted safely and in accordance with legal standards. Your analytical mindset helps you interpret patterns of theft and improve our operational strategy continuously. You serve as the primary point of contact for members who report stolen bikes, guiding them through the recovery process with clarity and empathy. You also engage directly with the public to explain our mission and activities during field operations. What you'll do
Investigate reported stolen bike incidents using digital tools and field observations.
Deploy trackers on our fleet to monitor e-bikes and gather real time location data.
Drive through the city in a van during targeted city sweeps to locate and recover stolen bicycles.
Coordinate logistics and planning for surveillance operations in high risk neighborhoods.
Collaborate with local police departments to file reports and support official investigations.
Document every step of the recovery process with detailed notes and evidence for each case.
Answer questions from community members on the street during active hunting and outreach sessions.
Explain our bike hunting methodology to passersby and members to build trust and awareness.
Identify patterns in theft data to refine surveillance strategies and improve recovery rates.
Continuously evaluate and optimize our procedures to make the hunting process more efficient and effective.
Maintain clear and open communication with our members throughout the entire recovery journey.
Support the team in training new hunters on best practices and safety protocols in the field.
Represent Example Corp. professionally during all public interactions and community engagements.
Use feedback from operations to propose improvements to our overall bike recovery system.
Requirements
You must have a genuine passion for justice and a strong desire to help people recover their stolen property.
You need to be comfortable working independently as well as within a team during intensive city wide operations.
You must be willing to drive a van as part of regular city sweep activities and follow all traffic laws.
You should have a clean driving record and hold a valid driver's license appropriate for the vehicle used.
You need to be able to communicate clearly in Dutch during street interactions and public outreach.
You must be physically capable of performing outdoor tasks in various weather conditions across Amsterdam.
You need to have strong attention to detail when documenting cases and handling tracking equipment.
You must respect the privacy and rights of individuals while conducting surveillance and recovery work.
Nice to have
Experience in logistics, field operations, or security related work is preferred.
Familiarity with data analysis tools to help interpret theft patterns and trends.
Knowledge of local Amsterdam neighborhoods and cycling infrastructure.
Skills in photography or evidence collection can be beneficial for case documentation.
Experience working with law enforcement or municipal authorities is an advantage.
Ability to speak additional languages beyond Dutch to support community outreach.
Practical notes
This role involves significant outdoor work and travel across Amsterdam for city sweeps and recovery missions.
You will need to be available during evenings and weekends when theft incidents and recovery operations are most active.
