Copywriter (Product Marketing)
Job description
About the role
This role focuses on shaping how Everstar is described in the market and how its value is articulated to the right readers. You will own the words that explain the product, the problems it solves, and the outcomes it helps customers achieve. You will research complex topics, translate them into clear narratives, and adapt the voice for different channels and audiences. You will work closely with product teams to align messaging with product reality and with marketing teams to turn features into stories that resonate. You will plan content around editorial calendars, set up structures for clarity and reuse, and measure how your writing performs in the wild. You will revise your own work rigorously, using data and feedback to refine sentences until they are precise and persuasive. You will act as a bridge between technical depth and customer empathy, ensuring every line of copy supports the business while feeling human.
Key facts
What you'll do
Investigate product details, customer needs, and market context so that every message is grounded in reality and relevance.
Translate complex features into clear value propositions that help readers understand why Everstar matters in their world.
Draft landing pages, product descriptions, onboarding flows, and campaign copy that guide readers toward the next best action.
Write emails, announcements, and internal messages that keep stakeholders aligned and customers informed without unnecessary noise.
Collaborate with designers and developers to ensure copy fits the interface, respects constraints, and supports the user journey end to end.
Partner with product managers to turn roadmap updates into narratives that explain change, reduce confusion, and build confidence.
Structure content hierarchies, microcopy, and help text so that users can scan, understand, and act without friction.
Measure the impact of your words through signals like engagement, conversion, and qualitative feedback, then iterate based on what you learn.
Maintain a consistent brand tone across touchpoints while adapting style and format for different audiences, channels, and use cases.
Document patterns and reusable components so that future writers can move fast without guessing standards or reinventing solutions.
Support the planning of editorial calendars, mapping topics to business goals, timelines, and resource capacity.
Review and refine copy written by others, providing clear, actionable suggestions that respect intent and improve clarity and persuasiveness.
Translate metrics and data insights into stories that explain what is working, why it matters, and what should come next.
Act as the first reader of your own work and the last reviewer before publishing, catching ambiguity, inconsistency, and error.
Requirements
You are eligible for this role if you have a strong portfolio that demonstrates your ability to write clearly and persuasively for digital products.
You can show examples where your writing improved understanding, guided action, or helped a team make a decision.
You are comfortable researching unfamiliar topics quickly and translating jargon into language that non-experts can use.
You have experience collaborating closely with designers, developers, and product teams to align words with interfaces and roadmaps.
You can structure information so that readers can scan, prioritize, and find what they need without reading everything in detail.
You care about precision in language, from word choice to punctuation, and you use tools and checklists to keep standards high.
You are able to revise your own work ruthlessly, cutting fluff, tightening sentences, and testing whether the message survives the edit.
You understand that clarity often beats cleverness, and you prefer straightforward language that removes friction for the reader.
Nice to have
Experience writing for remote-first, product-driven companies where messaging must support fast, scalable decisions.
Familiarity with content operations, style guides, component-based writing, and lightweight documentation systems.
A portfolio that shows measurable outcomes, such as improved engagement, conversion, or reduced support questions.
Understanding of basic product analytics, experiments, and how evidence shapes messaging over time.
Practical notes
Typical interview steps
Content hiring usually starts with a writing test or portfolio review. Candidates may be asked to rewrite a passage, outline an article, or draft a landing page. Editing skill is tested as often as original writing. Clear structure and attention to detail matter. Interviewers often assign a timed writing test. Following the brief exactly and editing ruthlessly are the two habits that score highest.
Career growth
Content careers grow from writer to senior writer, editor, and content lead roles. Some people specialize in search, technical writing, or brand voice. Proving measurable impact, such as traffic or conversion lift, drives progression. Content careers reward a visible portfolio and proven business results. Writers who understand their company's product and audience grow fastest.
Questions to ask
Worth asking in any interview: how the team measures success, who the role works with daily, what the onboarding looks like, and what the company is trying to achieve this year. Asking what past hires did well is a strong final question. Keep the list short and pick the questions that matter most to you.
