In this capacity, you will exercise ownership over complex documentation, directly influencing technical decisions and ensuring their rapid, accurate implementation. Your primary focus will involve creating and managing operational documentation, including user manuals, operational guides, and comprehensive technical passports for intricate systems. You will be responsible for preparing all necessary documentation to support official testing and certification processes, ensuring strict adherence to military and professional standards such as DSTU and STANAG. Furthermore, you will initiate and author technical documentation for nascent R&D projects, working in close partnership with engineers and developers to capture design intent and functionality. A significant portion of your work will involve the maintenance, versioning, and updating of all existing technical and user support documentation to ensure consistency and accuracy. You will act as a central hub for technical information, gathering and systematizing data by liaising with engineering, QA, and military experts to validate the precision of technical specifications. This role demands a deep understanding of complex technical architectures, encompassing software, hardware, and firmware, as well as the entire research, development, and software development lifecycle.

What you'll do
- Translate intricate technical specifications and engineering discussions into clear, structured, and user-centric documentation for military technology products.
- Author and maintain comprehensive operational documentation, including user instructions, maintenance guides, and technical passports for complex hardware and software systems.
- Prepare and compile all necessary documentation packages to meet the rigorous requirements of military testing and certification authorities, ensuring DSTU and STANAG compliance.
- Collaborate directly with engineering and development teams to document R&D projects, capturing design decisions, architecture diagrams, and implementation details in a timely manner.
- Establish and manage a version control system for all technical documentation, utilizing Git and Markdown to track changes and maintain document integrity.
- Implement and follow a Docs-as-Code workflow, treating documentation as a first-class product within the software development lifecycle.
- Liaise with QA specialists and military subject matter experts to verify technical information, clarify ambiguities, and ensure absolute accuracy in all published materials.
- Structure and synthesize large volumes of complex technical data into accessible formats for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Maintain all existing support and technical documentation, ensuring it remains current, accurate, and aligned with the latest product iterations.
- Utilize professional project management tools like Jira to track documentation tasks, deadlines, and dependencies within the engineering workflow.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal knowledge bases and process documentation to improve team efficiency.
- Analyze product architecture and development processes to identify documentation gaps and propose improvements to the technical writing workflow.
- Support the creation of training materials and procedural guides derived from finalized product documentation for internal and external users.
- Ensure all documentation outputs adhere to strict formatting standards, style guides, and regulatory requirements specific to the defense industry.
Requirements
- Possess a minimum of three years of professional experience as a Technical Writer, Documentation Engineer, or Technical Author in a relevant field.
- Demonstrate prior experience working on projects within the MilTech, Hardware, Embedded Systems, Robotics, or Telecommunications sectors is highly valued.
- Exhibit the capability to understand and document complex products, including a strong grasp of system architecture involving software, hardware, and firmware components.
- Show familiarity with modern software development and testing methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall models, as well as the broader R&D lifecycle.
- Maintain proficiency with core documentation and project management tools, specifically Jira, Confluence, and Google Docs, for daily operations.
- Apply strong analytical and communication skills to deconstruct complex information and present it logically and concisely in written form.
- Develop effective collaboration skills to work seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, QA professionals, and military experts.
- Hold the ability to translate dense technical jargon into simple, clear instructions that are understandable for the intended audience.
- Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy, which is critical when documenting systems for military applications.
- Be comfortable managing multiple documentation priorities simultaneously while adhering to strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
