About the role
You will own the end-to-end accounting lifecycle for a high-growth space-based IoT startup, driving accurate financial reporting and process excellence. In this position, you will serve as a key partner to operations and engineering by translating complex satellite and IoT initiatives into clear, compliant financial data. You will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger within NetSuite while ensuring all transactions align with regulatory standards and internal controls. This role requires a proactive mindset as you analyze financial results, reconcile complex systems, and support strategic decision-making through timely and precise reporting. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to streamline workflows, resolve discrepancies, and implement scalable solutions that support our rapid expansion. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong ownership of month-end close activities, including journal entries, adjustments, and financial statement preparation. You will also contribute to external audit preparations and coordinate directly with tax advisors to ensure compliance and efficiency. This is a hands-on role where your work will directly influence the company's financial health, operational transparency, and long-term scalability.

What you'll do
Lead the design and optimization of month-end close procedures to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness across all ledgers in a multi-entity environment.
Own the end-to-end management of accounts payable, including vendor onboarding, invoice processing, three-way matching, and payment execution in accordance with established controls.
Serve as the primary point of contact and coordinator for external auditors, driving the execution of audit tests, documentation requests, and remediation of findings in a professional and efficient manner.
Support the preparation and review of monthly financial statements, including balance sheet reconciliations, income statement analysis, and detailed disclosures in compliance with applicable accounting standards.
Manage the administration and integration of NetSuite configurations, ensuring that chart of accounts, custom records, and workflows accurately reflect business transactions and support scalable growth.
Coordinate with tax advisors to compile and provide documentation related to federal, state, and international filings, ensuring compliance and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
Monitor and reconcile intercompany transactions, banking activities, and other balance sheet items to resolve discrepancies and validate the accuracy of financial data.
Assist in the preparation of board-level materials, including financial summaries, variance analyses, and key metric reporting to support informed decision-making.
Implement and maintain internal controls over financial reporting to mitigate risk, improve auditability, and support the integrity of financial systems.
Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to analyze project costs, capital expenditures, and operational expenses to support budgeting and forecasting initiatives.
Support the evaluation and selection of banking and financial service providers, contributing to the setup and optimization of cash management processes.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying manual workarounds, proposing automation opportunities, and helping to standardize best practices across the finance organization.
Participate in special projects such as system implementations, process documentation, and strategic analyses that support the company's growth objectives.
Act as a subject matter expert for peers and stakeholders on accounting policies, regulatory requirements, and NetSuite functionality related to the space IoT business model.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; a CPA certification or candidacy is strongly preferred.
You must have a minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience, with a demonstrated history of managing general ledger, accounts payable, and month-end close activities.
Strong proficiency in NetSuite is required, including experience with general ledger, accounts payable modules, and saved searches or basic scripting.
You must have hands-on experience with bank reconciliations, intercompany accounting, and the preparation of financial statements in a multi-entity environment.
Demonstrated experience supporting external audits and preparing documentation for tax compliance is required.
You should possess excellent knowledge of US GAAP accounting principles, with a solid understanding of revenue recognition, fixed assets, and lease accounting as applicable.
Exceptional attention to detail and strong analytical skills are essential, as you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of complex financial data.
You must be highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, and consistently meet strict deadlines.
Nice to have
Experience working in the space, satellite, or IoT industry is preferred, along with familiarity of related revenue models and contract structures.
Hands-on experience with NetSuite SuiteScript or advanced saved search configuration is a significant advantage.
Knowledge of cost accounting, job costing, or project accounting methodologies is highly desirable given the nature of our operations.
Experience supporting international tax compliance or indirect tax processes such as sales and use tax is a strong asset.
Familiarity with Sarbanes-Oxley compliance activities and internal control documentation is highly valued.
Practical notes
This is a full-time position based in Saratoga, California.
On-site presence during standard business hours is required.
This role may involve occasional travel to support audits, meetings, or operational reviews as needed.
