About the role
You will create visually stunning natural and manmade environments in Unreal Engine and UEFN, maintaining a high artistic bar across composition, storytelling, and world-building quality. You will develop performant and scalable environment content designed for real-time experiences, large worlds, games, and technology demos. You will collaborate with teams across Epic to support shared initiatives, strengthen content libraries, and build reusable world-building solutions. You will help shape future pipelines and workflows for environment assembly, optimization, reuse, and large-scale content production. You will mentor and support junior artists on the team while pushing your artistic talent to the limit alongside world-class artists. This role is central to driving innovation in real-time world-building technology and defining the future of scalable 3D content creation.

What you'll do
Create detailed natural and manmade environments that communicate strong narrative and visual storytelling within Unreal Engine and UEFN.
Champion performance-conscious workflows, ensuring environment content remains optimized for real-time use in large-scale worlds and high-profile technology demos.
Drive the development of modular assets, materials, and lighting setups that support scalable world-building across multiple Epic projects.
Collaborate closely with designers, engineers, and other artists to integrate environment art into shared systems and evolving production pipelines.
Establish and maintain high standards for composition, readability, and environmental storytelling across all assigned work.
Mentor junior environment artists, providing constructive feedback and fostering a collaborative, high-quality art culture on the team.
Partner with content creators and technical artists to prototype new tools, methods, and reusable systems for environment production.
Ensure all art direction aligns with project vision, artistic standards, and technical constraints for interactive experiences.
Lead the creation of demo content that showcases the capabilities of Unreal Engine and reinforces Epic's real-time world-building vision.
Continuously explore emerging techniques in texturing, lighting, and asset optimization to enhance the visual fidelity and performance of environments.
Contribute to the expansion of internal art libraries, ensuring assets are well-documented and ready for reuse across teams.
Participate in regular reviews and critiques to iterate quickly and refine work based on team and technical feedback.
Support the strategic goals of the ART organization by delivering high-impact content that advances real-time entertainment and visualization.
Requirements
Strong portfolio demonstrating specialization in natural environment creation and set dressing.
Solid understanding of Unreal Engine 5 workflows, with proven experience using its core environment tools and material systems.
Excellent communication skills, including the ability to give and receive constructive feedback in a collaborative setting.
Proven track record of delivering environment projects at scale while maintaining performance and quality standards in a team setting.
Balanced expertise in artistic judgment and technical awareness, allowing for informed decision-making in production.
Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team, managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Commitment to maintaining high standards of artistry, organization, and documentation in all production processes.
Willingness to mentor peers and junior artists, sharing knowledge and supporting team development.
Nice to have
Experience with large-scale world-building, open-world content, or streaming environments.
Familiarity with automated tools, scripting, or pipelines that improve environment production efficiency.
Background in architectural visualization, media and entertainment, or related real-time visualization fields.
