About the role

Epic Games seeks a Senior Counsel (Regulatory) to spearhead the design and execution of global regulatory compliance programs, ensuring that our innovations meet the highest legal standards. The hire will own the strategic assessment of newly enacted laws and regulations, translating complex legal frameworks into actionable guidance for product development. This role drives multi-stakeholder collaboration, leading efforts to respond to regulatory inquiries and investigations on behalf of the company. You will partner closely with Public Policy and subject matter experts to shape advocacy strategies and engage with regulators and trade associations. The position requires providing clear legal analysis on legislative and regulatory drafts to influence policy outcomes. You will establish and maintain critical compliance frameworks that protect the company and its users. Success in this role means proactively navigating ambiguous situations where clear guidance is lacking, making sound judgments on high-risk and high-impact initiatives.

What you'll do

Analyze and advise senior management, Product Counsel, the Compliance Team, and Legal leadership on key global laws and regulations, including evolving online safety frameworks.

Architect and lead multi-stakeholder regulatory compliance strategies that align with business objectives and risk tolerance.

Provide incisive legal analysis of legislative and regulatory drafts, delivering concise briefings to the Public Policy team.

Champion advocacy and engagement initiatives with regulators and trade associations to advance Epic's policy positions.

Orchestrate the company's response to global regulatory inquiries and investigations, coordinating evidence collection and remediation plans.

Develop and implement compliance programs that are scalable, enforceable, and technically feasible within our product ecosystems.

Monitor international regulatory trends to identify emerging risks and opportunities for proactive mitigation.

Translate complex regulatory requirements into practical controls and training for cross-functional product teams.

Maintain rigorous documentation of compliance activities to support audits and regulatory examinations.

Foster a culture of transparency and accountability by clearly communicating regulatory obligations and decisions across the organization.

Requirements

A licensed attorney with at least 8 years of cumulative experience in regulatory compliance, including roles within a regulatory body, in-house department, or law firm.

Demonstrated experience managing and responding to regulatory enforcement actions initiated by governmental or industry regulatory bodies.

Substantial professional knowledge of the technology sector; prior work or in-depth understanding of video games or interactive platforms is a distinct advantage.

Proven ability to operate effectively in multi-stakeholder environments, navigating complex, high-risk projects that demand timely and sound decision-making amid ambiguity.

A track record of proactive, independent work and reliability under strict time constraints in a fast-paced, dynamic organizational setting.

Exceptional interpersonal skills with a demonstrated history of collaborating successfully with diverse individuals and cross-functional teams.

Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate legal positions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Commitment to maintaining the highest ethical standards and confidentiality in handling sensitive regulatory matters.

Willingness to travel as required by business and regulatory needs, and availability to work in the United States during standard business hours.

Ability to obtain and maintain any required security clearances or regulatory registrations as dictated by the role and location.

Nice to have

Prior experience advising on or drafting digital safety, privacy, or content moderation regulations.

Experience with gaming industry regulations or platform governance issues.

Knowledge of data protection frameworks such as GDPR or equivalent privacy laws.

Familiarity with Epic's products, technologies, or the interactive entertainment ecosystem.
