Welding & Fabrication Specialist
Job description
Welding & Fabrication Specialist at Endurance Energy.
About the role
You will own the execution of critical welding and fabrication tasks that directly enable the construction of the world's first modular subsea geothermal power plants. This role requires you to develop and refine welding processes for advanced materials in a demanding marine energy context. You will be responsible for transforming engineering designs into tangible, high-integrity components that can withstand extreme ocean conditions. The position places you at the forefront of a deep-ocean energy deployment, working on hardware that defines a new category of power generation. You will collaborate daily with engineers to solve complex fabrication challenges and ensure rapid prototyping success. Your work will support the launch of a long-term demonstration project this fall, requiring precision and reliability. Ultimately, you will help convert vast thermal resources under the ocean into gigawatts of baseload power through hands-on shop excellence.
Key facts
What you'll do
- TIG welding of Inconel, stainless steel, and titanium for critical subsea components.
- Perform HHLBW (handheld laser beam welding) of advanced alloys to achieve high-strength, low-distortion joints.
- Fit, tack, and weld heat exchangers designed to transfer 100-1000s of kW of thermal power efficiently.
- Weld thick-walled process piping systems that operate under extreme high-pressure conditions.
- Collaborate with engineers on welding procedure qualification to ensure compliance and repeatability.
- Perform hands-on machining, fabrication, and modifications to support rapid prototyping and test readiness.
- Adhere strictly to shop safety procedures, maintaining a welding and fabrication environment that is compliant and secure.
- Document every assembly step, test procedure, and observation for detailed engineering review and traceability.
- Troubleshoot fit up and welding issues in collaboration with engineering and production teams to resolve defects.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient fabrication shop that supports high standards of safety and productivity.
Requirements
- Bring 3+ years of professional experience TIG welding advanced alloys including Inconel, stainless steel, and titanium.
- Show demonstrated proficiency in HHLBW (handheld laser beam welding) or a clear willingness to train into laser welding processes.
- Possess a deep understanding of weld quality standards essential for high-pressure, high-temperature systems.
- Have experience fabricating or repairing components for marine, aerospace, or power generation systems that operate in harsh environments.
- Prove ability to fit, tack, and weld complex multi-material assemblies while meeting tight tolerances.
- Demonstrate hands-on familiarity with fabrication tools, machining operations, and precision measurement instruments.
- Understand weld metallurgy, joint design, and distortion control specifically for nickel and titanium alloys.
- Comfortably read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and weld symbols, with AWS D17.1 / ASME Section IX experience preferred.
- Apply knowledge of purging techniques, filler material selection, and heat input control to produce corrosion-resistant weldments.
- Maintain a track record of keeping a clean, organized, and safe fabrication environment at all times.
- Show commitment to safety and continuous improvement in every shop practice and procedure.
- Thrive in a fast-paced, prototype-driven environment where designs evolve rapidly and adaptability is essential.
- Communicate effectively and document processes to support engineering traceability and QA review.
Nice to have
- Experience welding pressure vessels or process piping for 10,000 psi systems.
- Familiarity with ASME code work or WPS/PQR development in close collaboration with engineers.
- Background in aerospace, energy, or marine fabrication environments that demand rigorous standards.
- Capability to perform visual and dye penetrant inspections to verify weld integrity.
-持有CWI或相关焊工检查认证,能够执行独立的焊接质量评估。
