SDET III (IC3) - Software Engineer in Test III
Job description
About the role
You will act as the primary quality advocate for your product area, owning the test strategy from initial requirements through final release validation. In this capacity, you will design and implement scalable automated test solutions that validate complex business logic and ensure feature completeness. You will collaborate daily with cross-functional partners to shift quality left, influencing design decisions to maximize testability and reduce future technical debt. Your work will directly impact the reliability of our platform by creating robust frameworks that catch defects before they reach production users. You will analyze system requirements to translate ambiguous product goals into concrete, executable test cases. Furthermore, you will mentor other team members on best practices for testing, fostering a culture where quality is everyone's responsibility. You will leverage your expertise to build tools that empower developers to release with confidence and speed.
Key facts
What you'll do
Architect and maintain a comprehensive test automation suite that covers unit, integration, and end-to-end workflows for our SaaS platform.
Evaluate product specifications and user stories to identify edge cases and potential failure points before development begins.
Execute manual exploratory testing to uncover issues that are not apparent through automated scripts or standard checklists.
Develop and manage performance and load testing scenarios to validate system behavior under peak traffic conditions.
Partner with software engineers to define acceptance criteria that are measurable and testable within the existing CI/CD pipeline.
Lead the coordination of test execution during release windows, ensuring all quality gates are met prior to deployment.
Implement test data management strategies that allow tests to run reliably in shared, non-production environments.
Analyze test results and metrics to identify trends, isolate root causes, and communicate findings effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
Champion the continuous improvement of testing processes by evaluating new tools, frameworks, and methodologies for adoption.
Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure testing activities adhere to organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
Refine existing automation scripts to improve resilience against UI changes and reduce maintenance overhead.
Contribute to the technical documentation of testing procedures, enabling new team members to become productive quickly.
Act as a subject matter expert for testing practices, providing guidance and code reviews for test engineering initiatives.
Support the creation of monitoring and alerting strategies that provide visibility into production defects that were not caught in pre-release testing.
Engage in the full software development lifecycle, applying software engineering principles to solve testing challenges.
