About the role

You will design and maintain critical software components that enable Scaleway's sovereign cloud infrastructure to operate at scale. Your work will directly influence the performance and reliability of hardware update, testing, and inventory systems used across our data centers. You will own the full lifecycle of features, from initial design and implementation through rigorous testing and continuous optimization. This role requires you to write clean, structured Python code that bridges high-level application logic with low-level hardware constraints. You will collaborate closely with a small, cross-functional squad to deliver robust backend services and intuitive frontend interfaces. Your contributions will help shape the technical direction of key infrastructure products used by enterprise and startup customers alike. You will actively participate in defining and driving major infrastructure initiatives that define the next generation of our platform.

What you'll do

Develop and maintain core product features using Applicative Python to power hardware update, testing, and inventory systems within the sovereign cloud.

Own and architect frontend components as part of a dual track, delivering complex React and TypeScript interfaces that handle real-time updates and long-polling scenarios.

Manage and automate infrastructure operations for Proxmox clusters using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible.

Design and implement secure secrets management and deployment workflows that support scalable and reliable operations.

Bridge the gap between low-level hardware data collection and high-level web APIs to ensure seamless data flow across the stack.

Drive the design and delivery of a new infrastructure initiative in partnership with the team to meet the next major milestones of the architecture.

Optimize, refactor, and test large volumes of existing code to ensure stability during long-running hardware validation and testing cycles.

Maintain engineering excellence through rigorous peer code reviews, clean architecture principles, and active participation in lightweight Scrum ceremonies.

Collaborate with hardware and operations teams to align software solutions with physical infrastructure constraints and performance goals.

Champion continuous knowledge sharing and contribute to a highly collaborative, international environment focused on technical excellence.

Requirements

You must have a strong background in Applicative Python, demonstrating at least 4 years of experience writing structured application code.

You approach software engineering as a core identity, with a focus on clean code, architecture, testing, and API design.

You have professional experience in at least one of the following secondary tracks: Frontend or DevOps/IaC.

For the Frontend Track, you are proficient in building highly responsive web applications using React and TypeScript.

For the Frontend Track, you are comfortable with modern state management and data-fetching patterns in complex user interfaces.

For the Frontend Track, you have handled complex asynchronous states, long-polling, or real-time updates in production applications.

For the DevOps/IaC Track, you have hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation pipelines.

For the DevOps/IaC Track, you have used Ansible and Terraform to provision virtualized clusters such as Proxmox.

For the DevOps/IaC Track, you have built robust GitLab CI/CD workflows using Docker containers.

For the DevOps/IaC Track, you have deployed or managed core APIs on Kubernetes and orchestrated service virtual machines.

For the Systems Track, you have solid foundations in Linux Sysadmin, networking protocols, and bare-metal provisioning mechanisms.

For the Systems Track, you are familiar with DHCP, PXE, TFTP, or building custom Linux OS images using tools such as debootstrap, caper, or mkosi.

For the Systems Track, you have experience interacting with physical hardware labs or configuration management solutions.

You are capable of working on a diverse codebase that spans hardware-level data collection to web APIs.

You thrive in a collaborative, international environment and value open technical debates and continuous knowledge sharing.

Nice to have

Experience with Linux Sysadmin, networking protocols, bare-metal provisioning, and custom OS images.
