What you'll do
- Conduct thorough inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Utilize various measuring tools and equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges, to perform precise measurements and evaluations.
- Document inspection results and maintain accurate records of quality assessments, including any non-conformances or defects identified during inspections.
- Collaborate with production teams to address quality issues, providing guidance and recommendations for corrective actions to enhance product quality.
- Participate in root cause analysis for quality failures, working with cross-functional teams to develop effective solutions and prevent recurrence.
- Assist in the development and implementation of quality control procedures and policies to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Conduct audits of production processes and quality systems to verify adherence to established protocols and identify areas for improvement.
- Train and mentor junior quality inspectors and production staff on quality assurance practices and the importance of maintaining high standards.
- Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in quality inspection techniques, integrating new methodologies into existing processes as appropriate.
- Prepare detailed reports on inspection findings and quality metrics, presenting data to management and stakeholders to inform decision-making.
- Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing product quality and operational efficiency.
- Engage in regular communication with suppliers to ensure the quality of incoming materials and components meets Bamboohr's stringent standards.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a quality inspection role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in the construction or engineering sectors.
- Strong understanding of quality control methodologies and tools, including statistical process control (SPC) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
- Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment, with a solid grasp of technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to identify trends and anomalies in quality data.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey quality-related information to team members and management.
- Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Nice to have
- Certification in quality management systems, such as ISO 9001 or Six Sigma, would be an asset.
- Experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods and certifications in relevant techniques.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and practices.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within quality assurance.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for data analysis and reporting.
- Experience with quality management software and tools for tracking inspection results and quality metrics.
- Knowledge of CAD software for interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations relevant to quality assurance in manufacturing.

- This position is based in Surrey, British Columbia, and may require occasional travel to supplier sites or customer locations for inspections and audits.
