Growth Engineer
Job description
About the role
You are a Growth Engineer who writes code that moves revenue at DUST. You sit at the intersection of engineering and go-to-market, owning the technical systems that power how Dust acquires, activates, and converts users. You ship directly on dust.tt, building our analytics and tracking infrastructure from the ground up, and creating high-leverage internal apps that make our GTM team wildly more effective. You will translate ambitious growth ideas into production systems alongside Growth Marketers and GTM Engineers, using AI tools like Dust and Claude Code every single day to move fast and ship reliably. This role is for a builder who cares as much about conversion rates as code quality and who thrives on shipping directly in production.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Ship directly on dust.tt: landing pages, conversion flows, forms, and experiments with the velocity of a founder, not the process of a platform team.
- Implement and own end-to-end tracking across our growth funnel, including ads attribution, UTM params, gclid, cookie and browser tracking, and HubSpot integration.
- Design and run rapid experiments such as A/B tests, new pages, and new CTAs, then double down on what the data says works.
- Build high-leverage internal applications for Sales, Growth, and Marketing, including signal-based notification systems, control towers, and quote-to-cash automation between HubSpot and Stripe.
- Create production-grade tools that our GTM team actually relies on daily, with real security, reliability, and autonomy beyond prototypes.
- Leverage Dust's own platform to build AI-powered agents and workflows that give our go-to-market team an unfair advantage.
- Own our marketing and growth data stack by instrumenting events, building dashboards, and ensuring data is clean, reliable, and actionable across PostHog, Snowflake, and Metabase.
- Partner with Growth Marketers to define metrics, track performance, and generate insights that drive campaign and funnel decisions.
- Build and maintain integrations across our GTM stack, including the CRM, CDP, ad platforms, and enrichment tools.
- Serve as the technical backbone of the growth team by translating vague marketing requests into scoped technical specs and shipping them autonomously.
- Work closely with GTM Engineers on data architecture and with Growth Marketers on acquisition strategy.
- Maintain a dotted line to Product Engineering to ensure code quality, security best practices, and architectural coherence.
Requirements
- You are a software engineer first with strong engineering fundamentals, ideally full-stack in TypeScript/React and backend, and you write clean, production-grade code.
- You are AI-pilled, a power user of AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor, and you build with AI and think about how it changes what is possible; this is a hard requirement.
- You have a growth mindset, literally, with a genuine interest in growth, marketing funnels, and user acquisition, caring about conversion rates as much as code quality.
- You have hands-on experience with analytics and tracking, having used tools like PostHog, GA4, Segment, Mixpanel, or similar, and you have instrumented events, debugged attribution, or built dashboards before.
- You are autonomous and fast, thriving in ambiguous, fast-moving environments where you do not wait for a spec but write the spec and ship the solution.
- You have 1 to 4 years of professional software engineering experience, with prior growth engineering, marketing technology, or internal tools experience being a plus.
- You are comfortable working in a high-growth startup environment where speed and clarity are essential.
- You communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- You care about data quality and reliability, ensuring that analytics and tracking are robust and actionable.
- You are comfortable shipping code that directly impacts user behavior and business outcomes on dust.tt.
Nice to have
- Background in SEO infrastructure, programmatic content, or developer marketing.
- Familiarity with Stripe integrations, billing systems, or commerce flows.
- Prior work at a high-growth startup, especially AI-native or developer-focused companies.
