What you'll do

• Provide on-site technical support for hardware and software issues, ensuring timely resolution to minimize downtime for clients.
• Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, printers, and other peripheral devices at client locations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve network connectivity issues, including LAN and Wi-Fi problems, to ensure seamless communication for users.
• Assist in the deployment of new software applications and updates, ensuring that all systems are up-to-date and functioning correctly.
• Conduct regular maintenance checks on equipment to prevent issues and prolong the lifespan of technology assets.
• Document all support activities and resolutions in the ticketing system to maintain accurate records and facilitate knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with other IT team members to escalate complex issues and develop solutions that enhance overall service delivery.
• Provide training and support to end-users on new technologies and best practices to improve their experience and productivity.
• Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of IT support processes and procedures.
• Maintain a professional demeanor while interacting with clients, ensuring a positive and productive relationship.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to continually enhance your skills and knowledge.
• Assist in inventory management of IT assets, ensuring that all equipment is accounted for and properly maintained.

Requirements

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in IT support or a related field, with a focus on field support roles.
• Strong knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems, as well as common software applications.
• Familiarity with networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues effectively.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with clients and team members professionally.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
• A valid driver's license and reliable transportation to travel to various client sites as needed.

Nice to have

• CompTIA A+ or similar certification to demonstrate technical proficiency in IT support.
• Experience with ticketing systems and remote support tools to enhance service efficiency.
• Knowledge of mobile device management and support for smartphones and tablets.
• Familiarity with cloud services and virtualization technologies.
• Previous experience in a customer-facing role, showcasing strong interpersonal skills.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other common productivity tools.
• Experience with remote desktop support software, such as TeamViewer or LogMeIn.
• Knowledge of antivirus and security software to protect client systems.
• Familiarity with backup and recovery solutions to ensure data integrity.
• Ability to use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve technical issues.

Practical notes

• This position may require occasional evening or weekend work to accommodate client needs.
• Travel within Howard County and surrounding areas is necessary; candidates should be prepared for a mobile work environment.
