What you'll do
- Spearhead the formulation and execution of compensation philosophies, structures, and programs tailored for designated client groups.
- Foster strong partnerships with HR colleagues and business leaders to enhance and innovate compensation strategies and initiatives.
- Act as the primary consultant for compensation-related inquiries, backing your recommendations with thorough analysis and sound judgment.
- Conduct proactive evaluations of existing compensation programs to assess their effectiveness, market competitiveness, and internal equity, and present findings along with alternative solutions.
- Play a key role in developing and refining company-wide compensation processes, which include job leveling, market data analysis, salary review cycles, and global compensation practices.
- Create and deliver comprehensive training materials on compensation topics for client teams to enhance understanding and application.
- Collaborate with the recruitment team to ensure the fair and consistent application of compensation policies for new hires, promoting equity from the outset.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in compensation to ensure Dropbox remains a competitive employer.
- Participate in cross-functional projects that require compensation insights, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
- Monitor and report on compensation metrics to assess the effectiveness of compensation strategies and make recommendations for improvement.
- Engage in regular communication with stakeholders to ensure transparency and understanding of compensation policies and practices.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is essential.
- At least 7 years of experience in an in-house compensation role or at a compensation consulting firm, preferably within the technology industry.
- Proven expertise in job evaluation, aligning market data, setting salaries, managing compensation review processes, and understanding international compensation frameworks.
- Ability to thrive and adapt in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to cultivate influential relationships with executives, management, and peers.
- Experience in supporting corporate functions or product development teams in a client-facing role is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in change management and project management methodologies is expected.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills are crucial for success in this role.
- Strong analytical capabilities to interpret complex data and provide clear, actionable recommendations.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are required; familiarity with Tableau or SQL is advantageous but not essential.
Nice to have
- Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau to effectively present compensation insights.
- Knowledge of SQL, Databricks, or similar tools for analyzing extensive datasets is a plus.
- Familiarity with AI tools for compensation analysis and reporting can enhance your candidacy.

Practical notes
- This position may require approximately 5-10% travel annually for team meetings and offsite events.
- The compensation range for this role is between $130,500 and $176,500 CAD annually.
- The total rewards package includes a base salary, potential corporate bonuses or sales incentives, and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
