About the role
This position serves as a long-term substitute information technology support specialist within the DSA South campus of the Doveschoolsoklahoma district. The role provides essential technical assistance to staff, students, and administrative personnel across the school environment on a daily basis. The substitute will fill an extended vacancy, maintaining consistent IT operations and ensuring that technology resources remain fully functional and accessible throughout the entire assignment period. The individual in this role acts as a dependable bridge during a staffing transition, keeping all technology-dependent workflows running smoothly for the school community.

What you'll do
- Provide consistent day-to-day technical support for hardware and software issues encountered across the campus
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems with desktop computers, laptops, tablets, and various peripheral devices used by staff and students
- Assist faculty and administrative staff with network connectivity, email access, and account authentication issues on a regular basis
- Maintain and monitor school servers, printers, projectors, and other infrastructure equipment to ensure reliable operation throughout the day
- Install, configure, and update software applications and operating system patches as needed by the institution and its users
- Document all support requests, resolutions, and maintenance activities in tracking systems to maintain accurate records for the department
- Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for equipment repairs, warranty claims, and ongoing service requests as they arise
- Support the deployment and setup of classroom technology, presentation tools, and digital learning resources for teachers and students
- Respond promptly to urgent technical issues and escalate unresolved problems to senior staff or external contractors when necessary
- Follow established IT policies, security protocols, and procedures to ensure compliance with district standards and data protection requirements
- Participate actively in technology inventory management, asset tracking, and periodic equipment audits across the campus facilities
- Communicate clear status updates and estimated service timelines to school administration and end users regarding ongoing support requests
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience providing information technology support in an educational, institutional, or similar organizational setting is required
- Familiarity with common operating systems, productivity software suites, and standard peripheral devices used in professional environments
- Ability to independently diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve a wide range of hardware and software problems efficiently
- Strong written and verbal communication skills necessary for interacting with diverse users across different technical skill levels
- Capacity to manage multiple concurrent support requests, prioritize tasks, and adapt to shifting daily priorities without difficulty
- Reliability and consistent punctuality are essential for a long-term substitute assignment that may span several months or more
- Willingness to work within established school district policies, guidelines, and procedural frameworks at all times
- Comfort and discretion when handling sensitive student records, staff information, and other confidential institutional data
Nice to have
- Previous hands-on experience working in a K-12 school environment or a comparable educational institution setting
- Familiarity with student information systems, learning management platforms, and other education-specific technology tools and applications
- Understanding of network administration fundamentals, basic cybersecurity practices, and general data backup and recovery procedures
- Prior experience managing technology inventory, maintaining detailed equipment records, and coordinating asset disposition processes
Skills & tools
- General working knowledge of computer hardware components, peripherals, and common troubleshooting methodologies and approaches
- Experience with local area networks, wireless networking, and basic internet connectivity diagnostics and resolution
- Proficiency with common office productivity applications, collaboration platforms, and standard cloud-based service tools
- Understanding of user account management, access control procedures, and basic security best practices for shared environments
- Familiarity with help desk ticketing systems, incident tracking workflows, and service level documentation standards
- Willingness and ability to learn new tools, systems, and processes as needed to fulfill the role effectively
