You will tackle distinctive tax inquiries that arise from a platform utilized by over 200 million users globally.

What you'll do
- Manage all facets of indirect tax responsibilities, which include the preparation, review, and oversight of Sales and Use Tax, VAT/GST, and other regional obligations, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in collaboration with external advisors.
- Prepare and review corporate income tax returns for U.S. federal, state, and international levels, while overseeing the quarterly and annual ASC 740 income tax provision process, including all necessary supporting documentation.
- Spearhead international tax projects, focusing on transfer pricing documentation, intercompany transactions, cross-border compliance, and tax analysis to support global expansion and the introduction of new products.
- Handle inquiries and audits from tax authorities, conducting research on tax incentives, credits, and legislative changes that may impact the organization.
- Prepare closing workpapers, reconciliations, and journal entries for month-end and quarter-end, including tax reporting and analysis related to equity awards.
- Serve as the primary technical resource for the company's tax technology systems, managing existing platforms, overseeing the implementation of new tools, and enhancing compliance software.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in tax processes, documentation, internal controls, and automation, while also supporting special tax projects and ad-hoc requests.
- Collaborate with various departments, including Finance, Legal, and Engineering, to ensure seamless communication and effective management of tax-related matters.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is essential.
- Between 3 to 6 years of experience in corporate tax is preferred, ideally gained within a public accounting firm or a technology-focused organization.
- A solid grasp of U.S. Sales and Use Tax, Global VAT/GST, and U.S. federal and state corporate income tax regulations is required.
- Practical experience with ASC 740 income tax provisions is necessary.
- Strong analytical skills, with a proven track record of identifying issues, researching tax guidance, and developing effective solutions.
- Excellent communication abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across various departments.
Nice to have
- A CPA designation or a Master's in Taxation (MST) would be advantageous.
- Experience working in technology or rapidly expanding companies is a plus.
- Familiarity with international tax concepts, including transfer pricing, Pillar Two/GloBE rules, and cross-border compliance is desirable.
- Hands-on experience with tax technology platforms such as Avalara, Vertex, OneSource, Alteryx, or similar tools would be beneficial.

Practical notes
- This role is based in the U.S. and offers the flexibility to work remotely. Employees located in the Bay Area have the option to work from the San Francisco office.
- The base salary range for this full-time position is between $144,000 and $162,000, in addition to equity and benefits. Compensation is influenced by various factors, including role, level, skills, experience, and education. The stated salary reflects only the base pay and does not account for equity or benefits.
