About the role

Join the Ads team to help build new advertising products that enhance user experience and support game developers. This role involves developing innovative ad formats, including Quests, to drive revenue and expand the platform. You will contribute to a win-win-win ecosystem for developers, players, and Discord. In this capacity, you will own the full lifecycle of advertising features from initial concept through deployment and optimization. You will act as a bridge between strategic product goals and technical implementation details. The work you do will directly influence how millions of users perceive and interact with monetization on Discord. You will be responsible for ensuring that new ad products are not only technically sound but also intuitive and valuable for the end user.

What you'll do

• Architect and implement new backend services and frontend interfaces that power interactive ad experiences for users.
• Design and maintain the infrastructure that allows advertisers to precisely target and schedule their campaigns.
• Build and iterate on the administrative dashboards used by operations teams to monitor campaign performance in real time.
• Collaborate closely with product managers to translate high-level business requirements into robust technical specifications.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code that adheres to strict standards for reliability and security.
• Analyze large datasets using Python and SQL to derive insights that inform future product development.
• Partner with designers to ensure that user interfaces are both functional and visually polished.
• Conduct code reviews to share knowledge and uphold the engineering standards of the organization.
• Experiment with new technologies and frameworks to future-proof the advertising platform.
• Mentor junior engineers by providing guidance and feedback on their contributions to the codebase.

Requirements

• Demonstrate full-stack proficiency with hands-on experience in Typescript, React, and Python.
• Possess a proven track record of delivering complete features independently rather than partial solutions.
• Show a meticulous approach to work with an unwavering focus on quality and polished output.
• Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills to foster effective teamwork.
• Embrace a growth mindset where errors are treated as catalysts for learning and process improvement.
• Have a minimum of 4 years of professional experience working with modern web technologies.
• Understand the importance of writing sustainable and scalable code for long-term project health.
• Display the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing quality.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with analytics platforms and A/B testing methodologies.
• Background in developing mobile applications using React Native for iOS and Android.

Practical notes

This position requires the successful candidate to live in or relocate to one of the following counties: Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma. The company may provide relocation assistance to eligible candidates. Employment authorization is required. By applying, you indicate you are authorized to work in the United States now or in the future. The standard base salary for this role ranges from $196,000 to $220,500 annually. Equity and benefits are also included in the total compensation package. Individual pay is determined by a combination of factors including relevant skills, depth of experience, and educational background. This role is classified as regular full-time employment, requiring a standard 40-hour work week.
