What you'll do
- Evaluate credit applications by analyzing financial statements, credit histories, and other relevant documentation to assess the creditworthiness of potential clients.
- Develop and implement credit policies and procedures that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with the risk management team to identify potential risks associated with lending decisions and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all credit assessments and decisions, ensuring compliance with internal and external reporting requirements.
- Provide training and support to junior team members on credit assessment techniques and tools, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Conduct regular reviews of existing credit accounts to ensure ongoing compliance with lending policies and to identify opportunities for portfolio optimization.
- Work closely with sales and customer service teams to address client inquiries and resolve any issues related to credit applications or approvals.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management, summarizing credit trends, portfolio performance, and recommendations for improvement.
- Stay informed about market trends, economic conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact credit risk and lending practices.
- Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing the overall customer experience and improving operational efficiency.
- Engage with external stakeholders, including credit bureaus and financial institutions, to gather insights and data that support informed lending decisions.
- Assist in the development of marketing materials and campaigns that promote Delta40's credit products and services to potential clients.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in credit analysis, risk management, or a related role within the financial services industry.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and make sound credit decisions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings and recommendations clearly to various stakeholders.
- Proficiency in financial modeling and credit assessment tools, along with a solid understanding of credit scoring methodologies.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance standards governing lending practices in the region.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy in all work.
Nice to have
- Professional certifications in credit analysis or risk management (e.g., CFA, FRM) would be an advantage.
- Experience working with financial technology platforms or credit management software.
- Knowledge of the local market and economic conditions affecting credit risk in Kenya.
- Multilingual abilities, particularly in Swahili or French, would be beneficial for client interactions.
