Software Engineer | Identity & Access Management | Full-Stack
Job description
About the role
DeepL is building a global AI product focused on secure, intelligent solutions for complex business problems, and the Identity and Access Management team is central to that mission. In this role, you will own the implementation of end-to-end features across our full identity stack, including organisation, group, account, consent, and session management, SSO federation, SCIM provisioning, and the OIDC provider for both internal and external users. You will not simply write isolated functions; you will ensure every feature you ship solves a real user problem, works reliably in production, and is supported by robust tests and monitoring. You will collaborate closely with teammates across Identity and adjacent teams, participating in code reviews and design discussions to raise the bar for quality and reliability. This is a mission-focused role for builders who obsess over the Why before the How and want to shape the future of AI-driven communication. If you are ready to grow your career in a fast-moving, purpose-driven environment, DeepL is your next destination.
Key facts
What you'll do
Ship Features, Not Just Code by owning the implementation of end-to-end features that work in production and are covered by robust tests.
Collaborate to Raise the Bar by working closely with teammates across Identity and adjacent teams, contributing to code reviews and shared standards.
Leverage Modern Tooling by using AI-assisted tools like Copilot and Claude to handle boilerplate and refactoring so you can focus on logic and product value.
Build for Quality by writing well-tested, production-ready code that does not break at 2am and participating actively in incident response and postmortems.
Take Ownership and Reliability by monitoring your code in production, following through on issues, and treating each incident as an opportunity to learn.
Demonstrate Strong Engineering Fundamentals by breaking complex logic problems into small, solvable pieces and understanding the challenges of high-throughput services.
Show Adaptability by maintaining a solid foundation in backend development and server-side systems while learning and evolving across the identity stack.
Contribute to a Product-First mindset by shipping features that create delightful, frictionless experiences for external developers and internal engineering teams.
Ensure Secure and Scalable Identity by working on the foundation that every DeepL product relies on to authenticate and authorise users at scale.
Help drive the shift from Software-First to Product-First by focusing on outcomes, user problems, and long-term reliability rather than short-term fixes.
Participate in incident response, learn from postmortems, and help the team continuously raise the bar on code quality and operational health.
Collaborate on the design and implementation of SSO federation, SCIM provisioning, OIDC, and session management to support global customers.
Write production-ready code with a focus on maintainability, observability, and performance across the identity platform.
Engage with internal stakeholders to align on priorities, clarify requirements, and deliver solutions that meet both product and security needs.
