Staff Product Manager
Job description
About the role
This role owns the growth of the developer's journey from first touch to committed customer across the PLG funnel. You will define what good looks like for the product that moves this funnel rather than executing a prewritten plan. You report to the VP of Self-Serve and partner daily with engineering, design, developer relations, and the product analyst who owns the measurement behind your work. You are expected to actively use and experiment with advanced AI tools in your everyday work, measuring how effectively AI is applied to deliver results. The role is built for an AI-first mindset where change is rapid and you are excited to adapt, think on your feet, and learn constantly.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Own the growth of the PLG funnel - the metrics, the experiments that move them, and the product changes behind them, with a span that may be one part of the funnel or the whole of it as the team scales.
- Own the product across the developer experience - onboarding, the console, and the activation path a developer travels - deciding what ships and why while engineering builds it.
- Stand up and run the complete system your area operates on, including the rhythms of business, data-driven optimization, and the experimentation platform, building it yourself or in-house.
- Drive a weekly rhythm of shipping and measuring through a hypothesis, a change, an honest read of whether it worked, and the next bet, avoiding a roadmap of features shipped on faith.
- Execute the cross-team work that falls between owners, collaborating with developer relations on acquisition and shared developer platforms.
- Partner with marketing on search and answer-engine presence to optimize how prospects discover and understand the product.
- Work closely with sales and customer success on the handoff to ensure product-led growth transitions smoothly into expansion and retention.
- Align with the analyst on definitions and instrumentation to ensure measurement is accurate and decisions are evidence-backed.
Requirements
- You have product-led growth experience and have owned a PLG funnel metric - activation, conversion, retention, or acquisition - and moved it in a product real users adopted without a salesperson.
- You have a track record as an all-around excellent product manager: you set direction, decide under uncertainty, ship, and can show the outcomes you drove.
- You have the instinct and ability to build; you are technical enough to prototype, reason about engineering tradeoffs, and do your own analysis rather than wait on someone else's output.
- You can prove you have stood up a complete system from scratch - the rhythms of business, the reporting, and the tooling - and maintained it over time.
- You demonstrate evidence-backed opinions about product and are eager to be proven wrong by data, iterating based on what the metrics reveal.
- You are comfortable operating at the altitude of a developer making an integration choice, increasingly with an AI agent in the loop.
- You are genuinely AI-native, working with these tools all day, knowing where they help and where they mislead, and turning them onto your own problems.
- You thrive in environments that move at the pace of AI, where change is rapid and your day-to-day work evolves quickly.
Nice to have
- Preference for candidates who prototype landing pages and set up experiments without waiting for design or engineering.
- Experience writing SQL to validate hypotheses and directly query product behavior.
- Comfort building internal tools and workflows that enable faster experimentation and learning.
Practical notes
This role operates in an AI-first environment where experimentation and rapid iteration are expected. You should be prepared to work remotely across the USA and engage full-time. The role is early-stage and requires comfort with ambiguity and ownership of undefined problems.
