About the role

As a SAS Viya Administrator at Bamboohr, you will play a crucial role in managing and optimizing our SAS Viya environment to support data analytics and business intelligence initiatives. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and problem-solving skills to ensure the efficient operation of our SAS platforms. What you'll do

Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the SAS Viya environment, ensuring it meets the performance and availability requirements of the organization.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues related to SAS Viya, providing timely resolutions to minimize downtime and optimize user experience.
Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand their requirements and tailor the SAS environment to support their data processing and analytical needs.
Implement best practices for data security and compliance within the SAS environment, ensuring that sensitive information is protected according to industry standards.
Conduct regular system audits and performance assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary upgrades or changes.
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and training.
Provide technical support and training to users, helping them to effectively utilize SAS Viya tools and features for their analytics projects.
Collaborate with IT teams to integrate SAS Viya with other data sources and platforms, ensuring seamless data flow and accessibility.
Participate in the planning and execution of SAS upgrades and migrations, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
Stay updated on the latest SAS Viya features and enhancements, evaluating their potential impact on our analytics capabilities and recommending adoption where beneficial.
Assist in the development of automation scripts to streamline routine tasks and improve operational efficiency within the SAS environment.
Engage in cross-functional projects, contributing your expertise to enhance the overall data strategy and analytics framework of the organization.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
At least 3 years of experience in administering SAS environments, with a strong focus on SAS Viya.
Proficiency in SAS programming and familiarity with data management and analytics concepts.
Solid understanding of system architecture, networking, and database management principles.
Experience with performance tuning and optimization of SAS applications.
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Nice to have

Experience with cloud-based solutions and deployment of SAS Viya in cloud environments.
Familiarity with other data analytics tools and platforms, such as R, Python, or Tableau.
Knowledge of data governance and compliance frameworks relevant to data analytics.
Certification in SAS or related technologies would be an advantage.

Skills & tools

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in SAS programming and data manipulation.
Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating systems and command-line interfaces.
Knowledge of database technologies such as SQL and experience with data integration tools.
Understanding of data visualization techniques and tools.
Experience with automation tools and scripting languages.
