What you'll do

• Develop and implement energy management strategies to optimize energy usage across all data center facilities.
• Monitor energy consumption metrics and analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and execute energy efficiency projects, ensuring alignment with corporate sustainability goals.
• Conduct regular energy audits to assess performance and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Manage relationships with energy suppliers and negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms for energy procurement.
• Prepare and present reports on energy performance and sustainability initiatives to senior management and stakeholders.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in energy management and sustainability, applying this knowledge to enhance operational efficiency.
• Lead training sessions and workshops to educate staff on energy conservation practices and the importance of sustainability in data center operations.
• Identify funding opportunities and assist in the development of proposals for energy efficiency grants and incentives.
• Implement and oversee renewable energy initiatives, such as solar or wind energy projects, to reduce the carbon footprint of data center operations.
• Collaborate with external partners and industry organizations to promote energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with local, national, and international regulations related to energy consumption and environmental impact.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Energy Management, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in energy management, preferably within the data center or technology sector.
• Strong knowledge of energy efficiency technologies, renewable energy systems, and sustainability practices.
• Proven experience in project management and the ability to lead cross-functional teams effectively.
• Familiarity with energy management software and tools for monitoring and reporting energy consumption.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present findings to diverse audiences.
• Proficiency in Spanish and English, both spoken and written.
• Certification in energy management (e.g., CEM, CMVP) is highly desirable.

Nice to have

• Experience with energy procurement and contract negotiation.
• Knowledge of local energy regulations and incentives in Spain.
• Familiarity with ISO 50001 or similar energy management standards.
• Previous experience in a leadership role within a sustainability-focused organization.
• Understanding of data center operations and infrastructure.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and energy management software.
• Strong project management skills with experience in leading energy efficiency initiatives.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being self-motivated.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement.

• This position is based in Madrid, Spain, and may require occasional travel to other Bamboohr locations or industry events.
