As a Senior Buyer specializing in Capital Expenditures (Capex) at Data4, you will play a role in managing and optimizing the procurement processes for significant investments in infrastructure and technology. What you'll do
- Lead the procurement strategy for capital expenditures, focusing on identifying and sourcing high-value goods and services that align with Data4's operational goals.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, finance, and project management, to understand project requirements and timelines.
- Conduct thorough market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their capabilities, ensuring they meet Data4's quality and compliance standards.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers, aiming to secure favorable terms that optimize cost savings and enhance value for the company.
- Monitor and manage supplier performance, ensuring adherence to contractual obligations and addressing any issues that may arise during the procurement process.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration and open communication to drive continuous improvement.
- Prepare and present procurement reports and analyses to senior management, highlighting key metrics and performance indicators related to Capex.
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and emerging technologies that could impact procurement strategies and decisions.
- Implement best practices in procurement processes and contribute to the development of policies that enhance operational efficiency.
- Participate in budget planning and forecasting activities, providing insights on procurement-related expenditures and potential savings opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies throughout the procurement lifecycle.
- Mentor and support junior procurement staff, providing guidance and expertise to enhance their professional development.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field; a master's degree is a plus.
- At least 5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with a focus on capital expenditures.
- Proven track record of successfully negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships in a corporate environment.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions based on market trends and supplier performance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance standards in procurement practices.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to have
- Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) is advantageous.
- Experience in the technology or data center industry, understanding the specific needs and challenges of Capex procurement in this sector.
- Familiarity with sustainability practices in procurement, promoting environmentally responsible sourcing.
