What you'll do
- Lead the end-to-end budgeting and planning process for the operational unit, establishing robust financial targets that balance growth ambition with risk management.
- Own the development of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, conducting deep variance analysis and translating findings into clear, actionable recommendations for leadership.
- Drive detailed profit and loss analysis to uncover key performance drivers, hidden risks, and actionable improvement opportunities across the business.
- Design, build, and maintain comprehensive financial models, forecasts, and scenario plans that evaluate strategic investments, expansion options, and operational trade-offs.
- Act as a commercial advisor, challenging existing assumptions and aligning operational tactics with overarching financial targets and shareholder expectations.
- Partner closely with plant, transport, and customer service leaders to convert operational metrics into financial insights that improve pricing, productivity, and customer outcomes.
- Architect and sustain key performance indicators, dashboards, and scorecards that monitor operational performance and track progress against strategic growth objectives.
- Spearhead cost-reduction and efficiency programs focused on overheads, labor, and administrative processes, ensuring that initiatives do not compromise safety or service quality.
- Oversee financial controls, ensure strict compliance with policies and regulations, and provide robust audit support while actively managing cash flow and working capital health.
- Analyze customer and segment profitability, pricing structures, and margin performance to guide contract negotiations and overarching commercial decisions.
- Provide on-site financial support at national locations, assess performance gaps, and facilitate the sharing of best practices across the operational network.
- Monitor inventory, replenishment cycles, and route or service efficiency to identify areas for productivity gains and cost optimization.
- Evaluate pricing strategies and margin impact to support commercial decisions that enhance profitability without sacrificing market position.
- Serve as the primary financial representative in cross-functional initiatives, ensuring that financial rigor is embedded in every major business decision.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience operating at both strategic and detailed levels while influencing senior stakeholders in a high-growth, multi-site environment.
- Possess a proven track record in commercial finance, FP&A, or finance business partnering within complex operational settings.
- Exhibit strong expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and profit and loss management with a demonstrated ability to drive action.
- Show a history of converting raw data into clear insights that lead to performance improvement and measurable business expansion.
- Display confidence in challenging assumptions and holding leaders accountable for financial results and commercial commitments.
- Maintain a solid understanding of financial controls, regulatory compliance, and enterprise risk management principles in day-to-day decisions.
- Communicate clearly and engagingly, with the ability to explain intricate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
- Hold a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a closely related field as a foundational requirement for the role.
- Prefer candidates with an MBA or professional accounting designation, such as CPA, CMA, or CA, indicating advanced financial expertise and commitment.
Practical notes
This is a hybrid role that blends office and remote work. Travel to national site locations is required to build relationships and influence operational performance.
