Technical Program Manager - Hardware/Silicon, Principal

About the role

You will lead end-to-end program management across the chip development cycle, owning feature trade-offs between Product, Architecture, and Design teams while ensuring alignment with company objectives. You will establish lightweight, scalable processes that enable predictable project delivery within a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment. This role requires partnership with engineering leaders to translate strategic goals into actionable hardware programs and to improve planning and execution practices across the organization. You will act as a liaison between distributed hardware teams and company leadership, providing clear updates and data-driven insights. The ideal candidate is passionate about delivering high-quality silicon on time and thrives in a globally distributed, collaborative culture. You will define metrics, create dashboards, and drive continuous improvement to support the company's mission of unleashing the potential of generative AI through hardware innovation. Together, you will help shape the endless possibilities of AI by enabling efficient, reliable, and transparent program execution across the entire chip development lifecycle.

Key facts

What you'll do

• Lead end-to-end program management across chip development cycle, including feature trade-offs between Product, Architecture, and Design teams; chip architecture, RTL design, design verification, emulation, modeling (power, performance), Design for Test (DFT), Static Timing Analysis (STA), physical design, packaging, analog circuit design, system design and tapeout.
• Establish well-defined, predictable milestones for development within the company and with third-party partners for IPs, VIPs, and physical design.
• Coordinate delivery across teams located in North America and India, ensuring alignment and timely execution.
• Define metrics, create dashboards, and provide reporting to track program progress and overall program health.
• Develop playbooks and best practices for program management across the organization to enable consistent cross-functional deliveries.
• Identify and mitigate risks to delivery schedules and quality, implementing proactive measures to keep projects on track.
• Act as a liaison between hardware teams and company leadership, delivering clear updates, insights, and strategic guidance.
• Collaborate with Product, Hardware, and partner teams to manage dependencies, resolve issues, and maintain momentum across the development lifecycle.
• Drive standardization of program management processes to improve efficiency, transparency, and scalability.
• Partner with engineering leaders to translate company objectives into actionable hardware programs and execution plans.
• Support capacity planning and resource allocation to meet project timelines and business priorities.
• Facilitate cross-functional ceremonies, reviews, and checkpoints to ensure alignment and continuous improvement.
• Track and communicate key performance indicators to stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Enable data-driven decision-making through accurate tracking, reporting, and analysis of program metrics.
• Contribute to the development and refinement of methodologies that support high-velocity, high-quality chip development.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in chip/IC development as an engineer, engineering manager, or technical program manager, with the last 3 or more years as technical program manager.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to influence without authority.
• Experience in companies with complex software/hardware integration.
• Proven track record managing distributed, multi-region engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of the chip development cycle and waterfall program management methodologies.
• Experience establishing scalable processes in fast-moving engineering organizations.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and deadline-driven environment.

Nice to have

• Prior industry experience as Engineering Manager responsible for end-to-end chip execution from concept to silicon.
• Background in datacenter chip development companies.
• Experience with the latest process technologies and IP/VIP providers.
• Experience scaling engineering teams at Series B/C stage startups.
• Proficiency with JIRA, Smartsheet, and project toolchain integration.
• Experience managing external dependencies and customer-driven timelines.

Practical notes

Hybrid, working onsite at our Santa Clara, Ca headquarters 3-5 days per week.
