About the role
You will become a central architect of scientific enablement, designing the frameworks that allow our partners to unlock the full potential of our AI platform for materials discovery. This role requires you to act as a primary scientific consultant, translating complex technical concepts into actionable strategies for multidisciplinary research teams. You will own the end-to-end journey of a partner engagement, from initial technical scoping through to successful implementation and expansion. The position demands a rare blend of deep scientific acumen and commercial savvy, ensuring that our technical narratives resonate with the strategic goals of our clients. You will build and maintain the bridge between our cutting-edge research and the practical workflows of our partners in industry and academia. A core part of your ownership will be establishing the best practices and documentation that define how our scientific support ecosystem operates at scale. You will be the definitive voice of scientific methodology, ensuring that every interaction reinforces the rigor and reliability of the Cuspai platform. This is a role where your scientific judgment will directly dictate the velocity and quality of our partners' material innovation pipelines.

This position can also be located in Cambridge, Amsterdam, or Berlin, with a requirement to be in the office three days a week. Expect to travel regularly for collaborative efforts. What you'll do
Architect and deploy comprehensive technical enablement frameworks that translate complex AI methodologies into accessible strategies for materials science partners.
Develop and maintain a sophisticated knowledge ecosystem, including documentation, playbooks, and technical assets that empower partners to solve problems independently.
Lead the design and execution of bespoke scientific workflows that integrate the Cuspai platform into the partner's existing research and development infrastructure.
Serve as the primary escalation point for complex scientific inquiries, providing expert analysis and guidance on advanced materials informatics challenges.
Construct and deliver high-impact training programs and workshops that build partner capacity in AI-driven materials discovery and data interpretation.
Collaborate with product and engineering teams to synthesize partner feedback, translating real-world scientific constraints into actionable product requirements and roadmaps.
Establish and monitor key performance indicators for scientific engagement, using data to refine partner strategies and demonstrate tangible value in their discovery efforts.
Mentor junior team members and junior scientists within the partner organization, elevating the overall technical proficiency of the ecosystem.
Champion the adoption of standardized scientific protocols and best practices across all partner interactions to ensure consistency and reproducibility.
Act as a strategic advisor in high-stakes negotiations, providing the scientific credibility necessary to secure and expand long-term partnerships.
Build and maintain a robust network of academic and industrial scientific contacts, identifying new collaboration opportunities and market trends.
Evaluate emerging scientific tools and methodologies, assessing their potential integration into the Cuspai platform and communicating their implications to stakeholders.
Lead the development of case studies and success stories that highlight the scientific and commercial impact of the partnership.
Provide thought leadership in the materials science community through targeted publications, conference presentations, and technical discussions.
Requirements
You possess a PhD or equivalent industrial experience in a relevant scientific discipline such as materials science, chemistry, physics, or chemical engineering.
You have a proven track record of conducting research at the highest level, with publications in top-tier peer-reviewed journals that demonstrate deep expertise in your field.
You bring a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in either industry or academic research, with a strong understanding of the R&D lifecycle.
You have hands-on experience with computational methods or data-driven approaches to materials discovery, and you can critically evaluate their strengths and limitations.
You are proficient in at least one major programming language, such as Python, and have a strong ability to understand and interpret code relevant to scientific workflows.
You have a demonstrated history of translating complex scientific concepts into clear, structured narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences.
You possess exceptional problem-solving skills and a meticulous attention to detail, ensuring the highest standards of scientific accuracy in all deliverables.
You have the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, managing multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously.
You are legally authorized to work in the United Kingdom, and if provided the role is based in Cambridge, Amsterdam, or Berlin, you must be eligible to work in the respective country.
Nice to have
Experience with machine learning frameworks and a basic understanding of how models are trained and deployed in a production environment.
Familiarity with materials simulation or characterization techniques commonly used in industry.
Prior experience in a consultancy or client-facing scientific role, where you have managed high-level stakeholder relationships.
Knowledge of regulatory landscapes relevant to materials science in key global markets.

This role is based in London, UK, with a hybrid schedule that requires 3 days of in-office presence per week.
