About the role
You will serve as the strategic engine driving operational excellence for the Communications department at Crunchyroll, ensuring seamless execution of global external and internal functions. You will act as a trusted advisor to the Senior Vice President of Communications, translating high-level strategy into actionable plans and overseeing day-to-day departmental management. This role requires you to build and refine the core systems and workflows that empower our storytellers to deliver exceptional content to over 100 million anime fans. You will own the financial health of the department, managing budgets and forecasting while maintaining rigorous standards for vendor and agency partnerships. Ultimately, you will enable the Communications team to operate efficiently and effectively across all time zones and regions.

What you'll do
Establish and track key performance indicators through standardized weekly and monthly reporting dashboards to measure departmental success.
Lead the development of strategic presentations and executive decks, translating complex operational data into clear insights for leadership audiences.
Assist the Senior Vice President of Communications with HR planning, organizational design, and ongoing departmental management.
Process all purchase orders and invoices, coordinating regular check-ins with Finance and Accounting to ensure accurate and timely reconciliation.
Design and implement scalable operational systems and tools that enhance team productivity and cross-functional collaboration.
Oversee procurement processes and manage relationships with external vendors and agencies to ensure cost-effectiveness and high-quality output.
Partner closely with the Legal department on the creation, review, and execution of contracts for vendors and third-party providers.
Plan and execute team-wide meetings, offsites, and planning sessions to align objectives and strengthen team culture.
Lead high-priority cross-functional special projects as assigned by the SVP to address evolving business needs and strategic priorities.
Provide executive-level support by coordinating logistics, managing priorities, and ensuring smooth operations across global offices.
Navigate corporate procurement processes and manage significant departmental budgets with transparency and accuracy.
Utilize project management tools such as Asana and Microsoft Project to organize workflows, track progress, and manage deadlines efficiently.
Support crisis response efforts and operate effectively in a dynamic entertainment environment with shifting priorities.
Ensure consistent coordination across international teams and time zones, maintaining cultural fluency and operational alignment.
Drive initiatives that connect fans to content through diverse channels including streaming, theatrical, events, games, and merchandise.
Requirements
8+ years of professional experience, with at least 3 years focused on operations, project management, or strategic planning within communications or marketing.
Demonstrated history of managing significant departmental budgets and successfully navigating corporate procurement and vendor management processes.
Expert-level proficiency in project management platforms including Asana and Microsoft Project.
Proven ability to work effectively across international teams and time zones, with strong cultural fluency supporting global collaboration.
Prior experience supporting executive leadership within a large, global organization is required.
Experience managing multiple high-impact initiatives simultaneously while operating in a collaborative and autonomous manner.
Capability to function effectively in a dynamic environment, responding to crisis situations and shifting demands.
Holding a Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
A deep passion for anime, pop culture, and the entertainment industry, including familiarity with Japanese culture, is essential for success in this role.
